I am a newbe here, let me start by saying
and I have found loads of other info that I have needed by searching through the topics. I currently have a problem with my 99 Kodiak that i am not doing so well with.
I had just finished plowing my driveway the other day and it was sitting there idling while I was opening the garage door to put it away and it quit and would not start back up. It is very cold blooded so it stalling is common, but it always starts right back up. I pushed it in the garage and put some gas line antifreeze in the tank. A couple of days later when I had time to check it out it still would not start. The plug has fire and I even put a spark tester on it to make sure it has enough fire and it does. Next I took the tank and carb off and cleaned them, there was some some dirt in them but the carb was not gummed up, so I thought the dirt was not the problem. Put the carb back on, still no go, If you put the choke on it will back fire through the carb, I also put gas in the cylinder and it would back fire through the carb. I also have a 99 Wolverine so I put the carb on off of it and it does the same thing. It has 150 psi compression and I checked the valve timming and valve clearence and both are correct. I don't have any other ideas, any help will be greatly appreciated

check the carb boot. they are bad for de-laminating and it will then do what you are describing. had a kawi that did this to me. also had a bigbear one fall apart in my hands from this too. your bike is old enough that this is a good thing to check.
