You can buy black panels.

If you are going thru all the trouble of painting them why not go with a color you can't get.

Paint them white or a dark metallic grey
 
used the krylon on my panels. still good after last season. just cleaned the panels with acetone. no sanding.
some may rub off when you have it under the cover when trailering.

i'd go satin. less obvious if you hit some brush. i'm a fan of flat/matte black though.
 
Ive used krylon fusion on outside plastic pieces of my car, and as long as its clear coated, its pretty durable. I'm thinking about doing my red pannels a flat black with the stuff... Its quite easy to work with and makes it look pretty good for a rattle can job.

flat black is aweful,..dont do it... everyone is on a flat black sled...its played out..lol
