OK as a summer project I thought I would change the look of my 06 Nytro. I would like to change the grey stripe on the seat to all black and possibly paint the tunnel gloss black too. Not sure who it was that I had seen on here had changed the grey stripe to black. What is the best paint to use for the seat? And what are your thoughts towards the tunnel??

As far as the tunnel goes. You'll need to get it really clean with an aluminum cleaner, (not a polish) then sand and apply a self etching primer or a wash primer for the best adhesion to the aluminum. Then apply a good sealer, catalized urethane sealer would be the best for this. Then apply paint, a urethane single stage, or base/clear. Whichever one you want.

If you aren't a painter, or don't have experience doing this, you might want to check with a bodyshop to see how much they would want to do it for you. Painting aluminum isn't hard, but you do need to take the right steps to do it right, and use the correct products for the job. I'd hate to see a nice sled out on the trail with a peeling tunnel. Yuck! By the time you go and buy all the stuff you need, you'll spend several hundred dollars, if not more.

Tunnel

thanks for the heads up with the seat and how to change the strip. Went out yesterday and changed the gray stripe to black. Looks great. As for the tunnel was not sure if I was going to tackle the paint or not. My last sled I polished it to a mirror finish. guess I should go that way with my Nytro too. Thanks.
