Latest SnowGoer not kind to XTX

Ya know, I have read allot of threads saying how bad the 1.25" tracks suck in the deep snow. You guys ever think maybe it's a rider skill level that is the issue and not the tracks fault? A couple years ago, I had a 136 1.25 ripsaw and I stayed on top of the snow all day. I have been stuck, don't get me wrong, but I didn't think the track was all bad. My Attak now has a 1.25X144 ripsaw on it. Bet I go anywhere I need to, ESPECIALLY here in the Midwest.

With that said, I don't think the people who buy this sled will be that disappointed, unless they bought a sled that they do not know how to ride.

Pretty much all crossovers come with a 1.25in track. Most Manufac. want the crossover to be a great trail sled first. I agree the cobra would be better.

I aggree with most of what you guys are saying. I am proud to be a Yamaha rider and think their machines are top notch. Does that mean the other manufactures make poop? No. Every sled has something to bring to the table. I just found myself laughing when I read "a distant 4th" I could almost feel the pain in the writer when he HAD to compliment the Yamaha. Funny stuff. Opinions will always vary and real world results always impress me more than articles. A buddy of mine was DOO to the bone and I let him whip my Warrior around for a day. He has 2 Attaks, one Apex RTX, A Viper and a Nytro MTX on order now!!!

As far as rider abilities go, I couldn't aggree more with what was said. I have done nothing to my sled in the past 2 years to make it bettter off trail and yet I am getting stuck WAY less and am going into some stuff where my buddies won't even go. Yep, I am getting better at riding off trail!!! ;)!

I dont ride off trail. I just like the ride that the long track gives. I took the grab handle off my 07 Gade.

I think I will be quite happy with the XTX.

I hate to read the reviews because I know what the outcome allways is, DOO......but I actually rode the two chassis's last year when considering jumping ship from a life of Cat. I fell in love with the XTX just from the Yamaha demo rides in late winter, I knew what I wanted rite then and there, no mag would change my view. The XP kinda was a disapiontment, very light and nimble but almost too light... just didn't do it for me and I was all about light wieght for a while so what does that prove..... nothing. Ya gota ride to decide. I wish the consumer had more chances to ride new sleds like Yamaha's demo ride program but they dont seem to listen.

I'm not saying that the 1.25" won't get you were you gotta go off trail. What I think is that with this being their first TRUE crossover they could have used a better off trail track to compensate for the extra weight. My 121" got me were I needed to go, but not the way I wanted to get there. I can see many using the XTX as strickly a long track trail sled, that I think it will do very well. I just think there should have been more emphesis on a track options. That way you could get a 1.5" if desired, put it this way I don't think in stock form (1.25" rip), that it's going to compete with the other crossover's in the OFF trail catagory. Which like it or not is what this sled is being marketed as.

It would be nice to see an option program for the spring orders, but I'm not sure it would be cost effective at these levels of production.

I think that most of the XTX's will see about as much off trail, as most 4x4 go off-road, as a percentage.

Hear you there I rode a xtx and thought it was really nice. Also gave me the pice of mind ythat if I wanted to go out west I could. Top pick in my book.

I believe this is a first negative article about the xtx. Most mags praised the changes to the front end and thought it had great off trail capabilities. I think a little wider ski would help and I think that would be a cheap and easy mod for people who travel out west.

I can definately see the 1.25 Ripsaw being most of its problem. Ripsaw is not a off trail track by any means.

Correct... The skis are a big problem too. They don't work for anything off trail.

My bud had a 06 700 crossfire with a 1.25 ripsaw. It was amazing in very deep snow. He could go anywhere & never even think twice about getting stuck.Yammie is still learning how to make a good cross over sled.

My last sled was a '04 Polaris 600 Edge chassis. Had a 136" ripsaw on it. That sled was the same exact way. I never worried about getting stuck. Last year I rode in the same exact condidtions with my 144" 1.25" ripsaw FX Nytro and I got stuck all the time. Getting to the point that it wasn't even fun anymore. Yammie needs to understand that when building a crossover they need to compensate for the extra front end weight if they want to compete in the crossover class.

^^^^^ Exactely. A Crossfire might be OK with a 1.25, but a 4 strokes just not gonna move in soft snow.
My Rev did OK with a 1.25, but it left ALOT to be desired.
