I thought i had an oil leak in the oil pan but upon a closer look it seems to be coming out of the drain hole in the bottom of the airbox and running down the front of the motor. The oil is not overfull. I am using Mobil 1 synthetic 0W30. I think the oil might be vaporizing and venting into the air box. Has anyone one else had this problem, I'm thinking of trying a different oil.

There is a vent line from the top of the oil tank that runs into the air box. If you've tipped the sled (particularly to the left) oil can run into the box. And, during normal operation you will be accumulating a little oil in there as well. Neither are fatal just messy.

As part of my season prep I wiped out the air box with 409 and washed the foam filter in warm soapy water.

If you have oil coming out of the air box then the vacuum line that comes from the crank case to the bottom of the air box came off or is not sealing propperly. This is the only reason this will happen, if you continue to run like that you will drain all the oil on to the floor. Put the vacuum line back on and you will be fine.

Unless you've tipped it on it's side and had the tank vent drain some oil into the airbox. Ask the mountain riders how they know this.......

Yes you are right, thank you Crewchief. Apexer, please let us know what hapened prior. Was it on its side or did you remove the airbox.

I've had the same thing happen just fom messing around boondocking. If I plant it in the snow, or get stuck on the left side, I know I'm gonna have to clean it out. I know there's a fix out there for it, but I just haven't gotten to it yet...

The roll-over oil valve kit, really does take the worry out of rolling your sled on it's side!
There are times when I'll roll it on it's side on purpose, just because I can. Makes it easier to get unstuck, adjust the rear suspension, change hyfax, etc. I have even used it to do a quick gearing change without draining the chain case oil!
