Is there a replacement LED for the tail lights? If so where would I get one and what is the part number?

I believe it uses dual 1157 bulbs. Best prices are on ebay. Beware of what they charge for shipping.

I have a custom led board in my R1. The tail light is actually a circuit board with leds. The stock board had about 15 led's and the replacement had 41, but it also integrated the turn signals. It's awesome! Very bright and allows me to clean up the rear of the bike, ie... fender and turn signals gone. I have replaced some regular lamps at work with replacement LED's and they just don't seem as bright. The do last for ever though.

reading the description on the website, the RX-1 does NOT need the voltage rectifier to run the rotating/ pulsating bulb.......is that right?

I talked to a guy selling them and YOU DO NOT NEED ANY OTHER MODIFICATION.. Just plug and play!

Hey, Yo, Welter. Here's what I was thinkin. get the red LED bulbs and take the red plastic thingy's out of the clear taillight and then it would look clear until the sled started and then the red plastic bulb covers will not cut down on the brightness of the LEDs. I cant try this however until I get my sled back.............................Cubby

I thought those red thingy's were screwed on to the bezel. I remember taking them apart to get rid of condensation in the lens last winter................................Cubby

Cubby and Welt. I tried to take apart my lens after reading this post. Well the clear lens part is glued to the black base, I could not get them apart w/o breaking. So I went in through the hole and pryed loose the red half egg looking lens, then I reached in with long nose plyers and twisted the red lens to break it apart. It workerd. Now I just need the LED to arrive. Should look really cool.

Do keep in mind that the LED 's generate no heat. I can see the lens getting packed with snow even with the heat from the exaust near by.
