Below is the information that has been released to Yamaha dealers in the US via technical bulletin S2008-004. There is no mention of warranty covering this item in the tech bulletin nor are there any operation codes listed in it to use as a dealer to get reimbursed for it. The operation code and warranty status are always covered in a technical bulletin if Yamaha is covering the item. If a particular dealer is covering these for their customers as a goodwill gesture on their part great but Yamaha has not authorized dealers to cover this item. I have also been told face to face with regional service reps and at the tech update seminars that this item was up to the customer to purchase and not a warranty item. I will check into this and see if there have been any recent changes and will post if there are any. Below is straight from the bulletin and all the bulletin contains.

Some 2008 FX Nytro customers have reported moisture in the left footwell area. The 2009 model FX Nytros have a deflector plate installed below the drive clutches to reduce the amount of moisture in the footwell. The 2009 deflector plate (P/N: 8GL-2197B-00-00) can easily be installed on any 2008 FX Nytro model using two existing 8mm bolts. The bulletin then shows two pictures of the deflector plate.
