According to the Yamaha accessory book it is supposed to be better for the engine in racing conditions. Also it is supposed to be better for colder starting and it has ester in it. They say it is the best oil. The semi synthetic is good oil too.what made you decide to go full synthetic? i'm running semi ow30 yamalube in mine.
It all comes down to personal preference. Bottom line is this right here, you could buy any oil you want or find in sale and it should do a good job of protecting your motor. For me these sleds are not cheap anymore so spending a little more on what I believe to be a really good or better oil is really cheap insurance and piece of mind.
Here is a ton of info on oils that will more than likley induce a headache.

Sam's & Walmart have Mobil 1 full synthetic for $6.37 to $8.99 per quart. My Yamaha dealer is 15 miles away & charges $13.99 per quart. I have an auto store 1 mile from my house that sells Amsoil for $9.99 a quart 0w-30 or 40. So AMSOIL for me! LOTS of good oils that meet or exceed Yamaha specs. Pick a reputable name, price & convenience that is good for you & ride...

Just under 50 bucks at Wallmart North of the Border. Amsoil by the case is about the same price! Reminds me I need to pick up another case!
