Let's talk 4 stroke oil?

Citgo can't commit that to paper, it's non disclosure. They don't deny they private label, that they are in the reverse supply auctions, and they are the listed alternative to yamalube. Sometimes you just have to trust the whispers.

So if I'm translating correctly - "that's what I read on the internet?"
Snow tech did a article on oem snowmobile oil a few years back a question in dear ralph section of the mag was about after market oils are they safe to use and would it void you warranty on your sled, at the end of the article snow tech said that both arctic cat and Polaris used lube tech for their oil and Yamaha used Torco and ski doo used Castrol, this is what the article said which was interesting. hope this helps

As many guys have mentioned... you are being over charged . I have a suggestion , Not in any way promoting Amsoil just using it as a example... You can get on there web and join for 20 bucks and be a "preferred customer" and purchase there high quality products at a great savings... I use there OW-40 in my apex for 8.90 per quart and have been using there oils in most everything I own. 25,000 miles on my apex! and its runs like the day I bought it....the 20 bucks is a small investment for a high quality product that if you read up on will save you money in the long run especially in your cars and trucks! and there IS other good choices, This oil thing can be widely opinionated so Iam just trying to help.
I run Amsoil in my atv, o-40 great cold weather starting over all a great oil and would recommend it

No, not really. here is the quote from the article you reference: ..."As far as we know, the OE Yamaha 2-stroke oil is a Torco product (re-labeled)."

So, couple of problems here. First, the article is ten years old, and is specifically talking about two-stroke oil. Second issue is the "as far as we know..." bit. They don't 'actually' know (by their own admittance), but 10 years downstream they are being held up as a source of authority when the question comes up.

Yes the article said as far as we know, at that time, but these guy's at snow tech have been in the industry a while, I believe their intent was certainly not to deceive their readers at that time of the article was printed.

Yes, but do you see my problem with this? The title of the thread you are posting in is 'let's talk 4 stroke oil', and then a 10 year old article that references (with a very qualified statement) 2-stroke oil is held up as a source of authority. Snow Tech was equivical about their assertion 10 years ago on a product that this thread doesn't contemplate, and yet their comments are nonetheless offered as a source of authority on the subject we're discussing.

Like I said..... can be way over debated. If you run what the OEM says and just find it at a good deal that is really all the energy that needs to be put into this .

Yes I agree, lol, this topic has been debated many times.

yes, I know its about todays 4stroke oils but it was the only source of info that I new off hand on the subject from a respectable mag

bottom line run what you trust and if you don't know there are lots of options listed all over this site or if you don't know and don't want to risk it run OEM oil. I have run many different brands in mine even Walmart Supertech synthetic with no problems over the years the motor not that picky. I think the owners are and is why there is so much debate.

Yamalube will cover oil related issues for the motor....

"We are so confident we craft the highest quality powersports oil in the industry that we will warrant the performance of Yamalube in your new Yamaha vehicle’s or other qualified product's* engine for 20 years or 100,000 miles (5,000 hours of operation if no odometer), whichever comes first**. "

Run what you want.... but if you use Yamalube, you can sign up for the warranty. Just remember to keep records and all your receipts!

Yep and when you read the terms and conditions what does it cover? Engine wear? No! Tossed rod? Yep only if the oil was faulty! Faulty oil means what? If it can be proven that YamaLube is a faulty product then the warranty applies! So Yamaha must find YamaLube to be faulty for the warranty to apply! We have been through this debate once before. Besides not available in Canada!

I will use Amsoil 0-40 with complete faith that it protects my engine, same as YamaLube does!
