can you guys please give me some insight on what to look for when clutching.primary springs control mostly engagement right?secondary spings are for up/backshift with the helix angle right?not really sure what the angles do.weight controls rpm?what should i be looking for when tuning?i think i have alot more if i can fiqure this art out.using hh's,stock springs, bender helix not sure on the angle, all it says is rx1.i need help :o|

If you can get aaens clutching handbook it will really clear a lot of stuff up for you.also go the the technical pages & read the clutching section. It is all pretty well laid out for you there also. in about 2-3 different sections

It looks like you can get a copy on Amazon

Trust me you would waste several seasons testing parts and would end up with a box of parts you don't need.

Give me a call and I will set you up with the right parts the first time.

anyone know what the helix angle is on a bender helix that just says rx1.would like to know what i have in there now.ted your sending my friend kris [srxguy] some stuff.i will be in contact with you soon

hey Turk i have a Bender helix with 9960 stamped in it. would you happen to know what angle it is? i asked Bender, but they don't want to tell you anything! i guess they like to keep all there helix angles to themselves! lol!

I never measure out a 9960. Benders helix,s are cut so it keeps the initial angle longer so the helix acts like it is a lot steeper then it is.

thanks anyway guys! this helix is off of my old 01 sxr (piped)! if i new the angle i could sell it to someone that could use it!

Wantboost, It would still be a good read for you if you do not understand clutching. Even if Ted set's you up perfectly you could still use the info to better understand how the clutches work.

ted is this 53/45 helix i have any good?really just want to know if i can pickup anything with your setup.i have hh's with stock springs and this helix

From what I have seen Bender seem to use too much helix and the belt suffers.
OK in drag racing where there is low friction or drag.
I like and Use Dalton Helixes because of there quality and I can directly relate them to Yamaha angles.

I use different Helixes depeinding on what power adder, and what type of riding.

To put it simply,
The primary is your Torque converter, and RPM control
The Helix is your Transmission ratios like in a car.
The chain case is your rear axle ratio.

Ted.
