Hi,

I have a 2010 Venture TF and rode yesterday with no light problems. Today when I started it there was no headlight or taillight. Any idea if this is a common problem and what the likely causes could be?

thanks

No I haven't had a chance to do anything yet - I guess fuses would be the first place to check. To be honest, I didn't even know sleds had fuses. I'll have to get my manual and find out where the fuses are and take it from there. thanks for the response.

mine does that sometimes also
more this year than other years
sometimes even the guage won't come on
if it is real cold at start up it won't come on for a minute or so
i flicked the hi/lo switch a few times and it came on

it may be the ecu waiting for the charging circuit to keep up
or connections from the cold... i hope

That seems a bit weird - so are you saying after awhile running the lights come on? If that is what's happening, it sounds like a real nuisance if there is no fix.

If it would have been a Phazer or VL, I would have said replace the load control relay but I don't know for these sleds. Did they work once warmed up?

I only waited for the red light to go off and put it in the shed - moved it out of the shed earlier to get out my VL and it was daylight so I didn't notice the if the lights were working. But after coming back and starting it up I was surprised with no lights.

Any repair manuals available online? Or maybe even the owner's manual talks about the relays.

Exact same thing happened to me last night with my 09 Nytro....started it up, no lights...let it warm up and went to pull it into my buddies shop and was going to take his sled home. Turned around in his yard and the lights came on....no idea?? Got home and messed with it a little and could not recreate the problem again.

With the extreme cold we've been having this year, weird things have been happening like this. As soon as things warm up, all works fine. I say start with replacing relays with the new solid state relay number 8GN-81950-00. There are one or two that it can't replace as they are different (headlight hi/lo is one).

I just recently had a similar experience with our 2010 Vector, while on a 3-day trip where the sled spent the night outdoors in the bitter cold. On 2 consecutive mornings…. fired-up the sled, and no lights (front or back), plus no power to the cigarette lighter receptacle. I let it run for awhile to warm-up, before checking fuses, but after a couple of minutes…. lights and power came back to life on its own on both occasions.

I checked with a dealer mechanic, after I got back, and he thinks it may be moisture in a relay. He suggested checking to see if there's an updated relay for this application.

I have had this on my phazer as well. I think its just the relay as it always comes on during warm up.

Check you're fuses if the lights do not come on.

The lights worked fine today so it must be the relay acting up- I'll look into replacing it with the "new and improved" one
. thanks for the help everyone.
