I have a general question I'd like to get some feedback and help on. I have a 2004 Yamaha Warrior. It is a great snowmobile and I am very happy. However, I'd like to try some after market ideas to lighten the snowmobile since it is a bit on the heavy side for softer snow. I have been told to replace the skies, buy a lighter rear suspension, replace the battery with a lighter one, and add a turbo charger. If you have some specific suggestions including where to get a part, who makes it, how much lighter it is than stock, and how much it costs - I would be very interested. I am looking to maximize my cost for benefit. Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated. I assume ideas for the Warrior would apply to the Mountain as well as the stock RX1. Let me know!! Thanks in advance!

You can shave about 20 pounds by getting a Boss seat and aftermarket exaust.
Boss seat reduces the weight of the RX-1 with the LP kit to between 45 and 50 pounds lighter then stock!!!!
We did a weight comparison between a warrior with a LP Turbo and a stocker. Both were studded. the LP accutally had more studs. The LP weight was 608 and the stocker weight was 643.

gutting the exhaust can be free if you know the right people and it shaves about 7-8 #'s.
MPI makes lightweight A-arms that saves 5-6 #'s but cost's a few hundred.
MPI transfer kit saves 5#'s and is only $50.
Light weight tunnel ext saves ~5#'s and is under $100.
Lightweight battery shaves another 7-8 #'s. Yuasa motorcycle battery # YTZ10S. $75 with military discount. You can relocate the battery to get a lower center of gravity but you have to shave a little. There are some pics if you do a search.
More pricey but better weight reduction is the suspension. There are a few out there between $800 to $1300. Shaves around 35 #'s
Boss seat $500 w/o the group discount, $400 with. Shaves 8 #'s.
ECP filter kit saves a couple #'s, adds HP and once the battery is relocated, makes changing the oil a lot easier. Trust me, that is worth it's weight is gold.
I think that is enough for now. Just my $.02 but there are more lightweight items out there if you really want to get crazy.
Now for the good part. Save your money on all this and buy a turbo. HP will overcome weight. If you have a regular RX with a turbo, you will beat a 100# lighter, normally aspirated RX with ease.
