I am moving this to a separate thread as the other thread is full of turbo and supercharger talk.
The lightweight rear suspension kit is now on Yammies website: http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/acces ... etail.aspx
The pictures show obvious differences in shock absorber linkage geometry as well as chassis- and rail mounting points. Rumours in the other thread says it is a BDX AC Float copy. Who has got experience of this type of rear suspension...? Pros and cons compared to the standard rear suspension...? Pros and cons compared to other aftermarket rear suspensions...?
Also, is the claimed 25 pound weight reduction trustworthy...? My impression is that the standard versions of the parts included in this kit are not much more than 25 pounds in total...?

Alatalo- My only experience is with KMOD using the stock rails- weight saving are more than real. Adjustablity is much more in tuning. I ran it all last season and I'm now adding the OFT reail extension to 162" and 8" rear bullet wheels and 7" upper wheels. I found that the forward 5.25" idler wheels, I bent axel/bolt and will be replacing both the wheels and axel design to something a little more robust. I've been very happy with this set up. If I had to do it over, I'd proberly would have gone with some better rails. I have a tunnel exhaust and not once did I bottom out the suspension.

The ones of you that did see this at Hay Days, did you notice if the front swingarm needs new tunnel mounting points...? From the pictures it is obvious that the rear swingarm is using non-OEM mounting points, but what about the front swingarm...?

No rails and remember the price of this kit is no shocks.
Also for those wondering how it compairs to the cat skid I will have one here next week and I will take some pictures.

this is the price of the kit with out the shocks and the rails ??
i would take timberseld any day over that , the components look cheap in quality compared to a timbersled

Indeed, I have never been impressed with BDX myself.
What yami should of looked @ was the 2 big pieces of steel of rear suspension drop bracket! Make it out of alu already. They keep using that horrible bracket since the day of the RX1.

Kit looks to be a direct bolt on for 2010 and 2011 MTX SE skids only. The pix on the yami site show the skid mounted in the stock holes on the rails and tunnel.

I asked the manufacturer about this. The front swing arm as well as the rear swing arm use non-stock mounting holes in the tunnel and in the tunnel drop brackets, but the stock reinforcement plate (where the front swing arm is mounted) as well as the stock drop bracket is still used.rideblue said:The pix on the yami site show the skid mounted in the stock holes on the rails and tunnel.

Other than 25# weight loss what added performance is this going to give my 2010 Mtx? And does anyone think I could use the OFT drop brackets with this?
