lining up jackshaft and drive shaft

2003 rx1
I have a 2003 rx1 that recently blew a drive shaft bearing by the speed sensor as they typically do. So I desided to changed all 5 bearings in my chaincase, jackshaft, and driveshaft. I update the clutch side of the jachshaft to the nut and collar. I got all my info from this sight as it was the first time i did this. Everything going great, just waiting on the collar and nut to finish the jackshaft. Thanks for all the great posts guys. My question is setting the position on both the jack and drive shafts. I've read countless threads and have yet to find anything regarding the side to side position or location of the shafts. Any help or stearing in the direction to look would be great.
 
Each shaft has a little side to side movement before tighting. maybe 1/4" So are you saying to keep them tight to the non-clutch side, tighten and close up chaincase and then go to the clutch side and tighten both locking collars where they are? Sorry just a little confused.

Make sure you keep an eye on the new locking nut for a while, I did the upgrade and thought I had it tight but it spun off. Does anyone use Loctite on this and does the manual call for it?
 
Awsome guys, thanks for the help. As soon as parts get here (hopefully tomorrow) I'll be putting her back together and getting some long awaited riding in in this shortened season.
Will be watching post for replies on the loctite on the locking collar, don't need that coming loose either.

I have tightened that lock nut by the jackshaft bearing several times and it never stays. Have not seen any effect with over 2000 miles since I started noticing it. It appears if everything is tight in the chain case and brake area, the nut on the other side is pointless. Just my observation.
 
I think the nut takes the side thrust from the secondary, the gear box components probably aren't designed for that extra force.
