You give me too much credit. Yes I know a thing or two about tuning a clutch set up, but the more I do it the less i feel i know. Its truely a science of trial and era, and testing, testing and testing. Know what the best part about tuning a clutch set up on a 10 degree day with the wind blowing. The clutch parts are warm on your hands. Thats about it.
With the season so short, and winters not being what they used too, and add in a couple of little ones, and a wife that thinks I spend way to much money and time in the garage. I'm way beyond ready for a sled that I can turn the key and have instant enjoyment with no headache.
now about your reply. Yes i know what i was seeing wasn't supposed to be happening, yes traction played a big part of what i was seeing. I know if both sleds had speed tracks with an equal amount of picks the rx-1 should win. I know this. I have two ridding buddies with 2003 rx-1's. I have ridden them and found the motors to be addicting.
I'm having a real hard time not buying a machz and waiting for a 2006 apex. I can pick up a 05 Z for under 9k brand new, but i know this would be a mistake. I have a hard time letting go of this season and waiting for next.
I only have one correction on your reply. The 1100 T will hold off a trail turbo on low boost. I also know the guy on the turbo is not sweating the motor to melt down the longer we run. I'm also well aware of the power of a turbo charged motorcycle engine. I have had zx1100's when they were the "Fastest 2 wheeled vehicle on the planet" right out of the crate. I'm sure you have heard of MR. TURBO and his turbo charged bikes.
any way not sure what i'm trying to say other than . If i have to look at 600's,7 & 8's along side my new apex down the lake my ego (well in check at this piont in my life) is going to get a little brused and the wrenches and the wallet might want to come out to address the issue.
Again i will end my post with I've seen them all, I've ridden them all (Well almost all), and if i haven't raced them all , I've seen them race. I still feel the new yamaha's are the nicest piece of snowmobile you could put under your arse. I think yamaha should buy the rights to "Best on earth " from Honda.
I should also say that I'm a engineer for an aerospace manufacture. Not sure if this makes me interesting, but I would like to think this qualifys me to recognize a nicely put together piece of equipment beyond paint, seats, graphics, and handelbars.
Stink, the only thing I know for sure, is you sound just like me...the wife stuff, wallet and all that.
Be honest with yourself!
You can't stop with your addiction!
Regardless of what you buy, you're going to have your hands in it!
This I will bet a substantial amount of money on!
With that said....
Buy the RTX and lets Rock-N-Roll!
The Yamaha has more potential than any other sled on the market!
But yet you know that now, dont you? :ORC

Thats what I love about my 05 RX-1. Everyone seems to think its slow...I get made fun of...I have had several people walk up to me and tell me I have a nice sled and then blatently bash it for being so slow...then we race and I beat them. Believe me there is nothing better than the look on someone's face when they get beat by a sled that moments before they were obnoxiously ranting about how slow it is . I only have a couple hundred miles on my new 05 right now but all I can say is that what most people say about this sled is bull. I have only been racing up to about 80MPH because the sled is so new but I can say this...up to 80 I can hold off or stay with anything out there. The only thing I haven't had the chance to run yet is the Mach Z which I doubt I will stand a chance against. They aren't that slow...I don't know what these people are doing to their sleds that makes them get outrun by 600's. Maybe I am running good because I broke it in fairly hard? Either way you won't be disappointed.

If your worried about it not bein fast enough, put a cpr trail turbo on it. It will run like a complely stock rx1 only insanly faster. Nothing like a 200HP trail sled!

What class is the RX1 in? Answer- 600. Why is it in the 600 class? Answer- comparable performance.
Soo 500 is limited to 600 cc. Lots of RX1s in the race. Polaris 600 wins.

I have had in the last 3 years, a 03RX1ER, 04REV600SDI, 05RX1ER.
There is no comparison in engine power. The RX is addicting and once you get used to it, going back to that stinking oil sucking 2 stroke will be very disappointing. Check out the cost of doo oil, smell your clothes when you get home, and try to be happy with 2 stroke torque.
The 05 suspension is the best I've been on. The 06 can only be better as it is rider forward and there is benefit to that, but on the Yamy, you will still be able to stretch out. That really sucked on the REV.

Yes this may be true but who was winning almost the entire race before a suspension break down. Total laps held running first would go to the RX-1

I have to chime in since I switched off and rode a 05 600ho rev w/1000 miles on it last wkend. I have to admit it was my idea to switch as I have wanted to pound on a rev since they came out! Honestly I WAS considering jumping ship until installing 05 mono. Now I rode one there is not a chance in hell! Dont get me wrong because I thought it handled fine but needed picks. I had heard it took a couple hundred miles to stay on your own side of the trail but I just jumped on and thrashed no problem. But It felt like a one lunger taking off?...BA.BA.BA waaaa I couldnt beleive it! I thought my rx was supposed to be the huge black sheep performing like this? The rev guy couldnt beleive my rx-1 was the same rx1ton he had heard so much bad about Ha Ha my one ton snapping waap, waap, waap and his twosmoke bababa. He just kept raving about my power and how it was just pulling and pulling and said the motor made up for any handling shortcomings. Needless to say I was ready for my sled back within the ten miles we swapped. The polaris guy nwouldnt even take it accros the field and back after listening to the doo guy :ORC I love changing opinions

A 600 Rev is not even going to be close on the lake. If you are worried about drag racing 1000 feet bring out your T cat but if you want to blast through a groomed trail hit the lake and smoke about anything get the RX. I will admit a Mach Z will beat me down the lake but not by much they seem to have a little more pull at about 70 by about 4 sled lengths then I just cant get back by up to them stay about even from there.

If they were running a radar run, don't you want to spin the track at the start to run a better top speed? I see guys do it all the time. If you completely hook up it seems to run a little slower mph but better e.t.

I was in st.zenon last week.I met somene with a 05 f7 with an d&d f8 kit . The first time we raced i beat him by about .5 sled lenghts in approx .25 mile . Then i had my friend run because he wieghts about 50lbs more than me. The two riders are within 30 lbs of each other (cat rider wieghing more ).Every time they raced my friend won. The cat rider was amazed that i did not have anything done accept a stage2 clutch kit and 192 studs down the middle

Comparing a 600 Rev to RX1?
I Raced my 2003 Rx1 against a 600 REV. Rev was past the Break in period. I was Not! Result- I smoked him. Not even close! We raced twice and that was enough for him. Before the race he was boasting about beating several 800 sleds.

My buddy has an 04 F6 and we always stop to race when theres a nice flat open straight away. He kept getting beat by me with no contest. So this year he goes out and gets the F7. I get the 05 RX. He still can't beat me. In the short or long run.
We had a couple informal resovior runs. 800 rev got smoked by both of us. I was out front every time except for once when an 03 F7 (they are very quick) got me out of the hole. Weekend before I lined up with some new Pol XC 800's. They were abysmally slow.
What do I expect to lose to? Mach and Fusion. However the one who said that conditions play a factor is correct. Even comparable 2S models won't perform all that much better than the 600 if the hook up conditions are crap.
