looking at buying a turbo/nirtous rx-1

I've been in talks with Jeff and he has told me that It's a stage 3 bender on that sled.

I'm going to get it friday, But looking to hear peoples opinion. I did a compression test and got 185-190 for compression. Hows this sound?

leak down was between 5-7%

That motor is healthy if those numbers are legit. Looks like he has more money in the parts in the motor then the sled itself. I'd hit it...

I would wanna ditch the nitrous, Or is it okay to run it with that.

He has been running the sled for a year at 5-6 psi on 93 octane(found shop he gets it maintained at)

I'm playing on running MINIMUM av-gas

Hmm you dont need that much fuel it will just gum it up unless you want to run more boost. He has lowered CR pistons in there so on 91 gas you can run 10-11 psi all day long. I would say he has been conservative with the fuel, probably because of the nitrous. Your right I would ditch that unless your climbing big chutes that you actually need more power and the engine is lugging. I would set it up for 10-11 psi run premium pump and go have fun. That would be 240hp and looks like the motor is ready to handle more once your ready and you have the fuel for it. If you want to run AV fuel then make sure the turbo is correctly sized and crank that sucker up to 15-18lbs of boost and hold on!!

i ordered a 220L barrel of c-16 for 860$ taxed in today.

So i'll be pushing c-16 fuel through it. Time to turn it up! anything i should look at before i turn it up that high

Yeah lots to look for, do you have enough fuel, your carb settings, clutching, gearing just to name a few. Unfortunately its not as easy as adding more boost. Its a complete system that when out of tune will have dismal results. I have been on my sled that runs fine, seems fast, pulls good, etc then put it on Ulmers dyno and a SINGLE spring change in the clutch I picked up 30 TRACK hp, that is like the difference of your nitrous being off or on. It was amazing, jumped back on the sled and its like a missile 100% changed. So yes to turn it up you need to get someone that knows what they are doing to help you get it dialed.

i plan on going to mountain magic in edmonton for dyno and tunning or E&S.
