Do to crashing my warrior over the weekend, I will be in the market for a different sled next fall and I need some input. I don't do any deep powder riding. I am a flatlander and a ditch banger. I love speed and power. With that said, I have been thinking about the Apex with power steering vs the unknowns of the Viper. I think the Viper looks sweet and "should" handle very well, but I am just not quite sold on them. With the incentives and rebates right now, should I be looking for gently used or left over Apex? Any suggestions guys?
Thanks!
Thanks!

if it was me, Id wait to see how the viper holds together....lots of Cat parts and made assembled by cat...and the Apex is one amzing trail sled that can be bought for less than a viper

Not interested in the Nytros? They've been heavily discounted this season.

If you love speed and power your question should be 1100T or Apex. Honestly the Viper will likely out handle the Apex especially in the tighter and rougher stuff. But if you want a GROOMED TRIAL sled that will run for a long time with years of bug fixes behind it, the Apex is tough to beat. It's certainly not light, doesn't handle the best out of the box and isn't made for when things get beat up. It is however made to cruise at 80 then wind up to and above the C-note with ease and stability. In the U.P. there are miles of trails that sled just excels on. If rail trails are your gig, or if you're just not interested in going fast through the twisty's or bumps, the Apex will suit you well.
I just came from a trip in the U.P. and with a 500/720 I did miss the ol Ape on the long straights, mostly because I just want them over with. It was fun to spool that thing up and watch it run.

I love my Nytro XTX, but I understand they aren't for everyone. If I had any complaints I would say it's cold, but then again I stuck with the short windshield and put style over comfort.
There isn't anything wrong with an Apex with EPS. I think the new Viper will be fine, but my guess is the Apex will still be faster and you can trust the quality. There has to be some good deals on non-current models if you can find one.

if your a ditch banger you should get something lighter than a apex, nytro with s/c or
turbo.

Hey man! I don't live very far from you. You ditch banging more than trail riding or vice versa? I ride around here when we ever get enough snow. The apex is NOT a ditch banger. To me, it sucks riding it around here even with the power steering. It's a lot of machine for ditch banging!! But hey, if there's snow here, I ride! If you ride up north a lot and occasionally ditch bang, get the apex! If you ditch bang more than trail ride, get the Viper! I rode my buddies procross F with the 1100na, I really liked the way it handled. I rode it ditch banging and trails up north. Great all around chassis! Very lightweight handling. I ride on average 1500 miles a year with most if not all miles in northern Wisconsin and the U.P. For those trails and that type of riding, get the Apex!!! This animal shines on groomed trails! Have you checked into the nytro? That could be another possibility. They are practically giving those away.Cummins6.7pwr said:Do to crashing my warrior over the weekend, I will be in the market for a different sled next fall and I need some input. Don't buy an Apex for ditch banging. For trail riding and speed yes.

Wear a Tekvest......keeps the torso warm and protected at the same time......have ridden SIL's Apex with a windkini in all kinds of low temps without any problems at all....

If you liked the Warrior, you will Love the Apex, 136" track and power steering.
I'm finding it hard to trust a first year Viper

they don't make a 136 anymore......128" or 144 only in the power steering apex
