I ride with a bud with a new Cat XF1100 Turbo ... I think he Pulls-pulls and keeps pulling harder than a stock Apex ... BUT ... he can't keep a Drive Belt on it LOL. Only 1500kms and 3 x $250 belts so far that Cat won't cover. The belt issue and Cat Manufacturing is the reason I'd yet be leery on the '14 Viper until it's got a good track record. Let's hope Yamaha Quality Control and Running gear make it a win.
Until then, for the "Ditch-Banging" with some Power, I think I'd be checking out a Nytro

I would choose the Apex XTX, I came off a 05 warrior to my 2010 LTX little more rider forward so I added a mountain bar or riser( 2 in) seat foam 2-3 in makes the stand up easier and little more rider forward and hammer on the motor and you will be fine in most conditions it sounds that you like to ride in. That poo just won't hang on a long stretch. He will get you in the narrow twistes though, Good luck

Thank You for all of your replies! I pulled the trigger on a brand new left-over '11 Apex XTX. Rode it yesterday and man, this thing is a rocket! My ear-to-ear grin confirms I made the right decision. I know I would have missed the power! Really enjoyed the power steering as well!

Make sure you get snow trackers to prevent darting and majorly increase your handling. Get larger wheels because that machine eats slides. Nice machine wish I could get one handles a variety of different trails. I rode with my 06 Apex a 12 Doo and an 11 Apex XTX and they we're killing me in the beat up stuff. I rode the XTX and it didn't feel faster but handled bumps much better and the taller position was really nice. Power steering was great. We lined up and raced and off the take off he jumped me we were even after that but he got me on the jump and I could not catch. That XTX will be awesome for you just like I said watch the slides and grease those grease nipples.
