Got to ride my buddies Attak little this weekend. His engagement is so smooth, I think around 3000-3100 rpms. Mine is around 3500 or 3600. Much more jerky especially at slow speeds and reverse. I know his gear reduction helps. I'm thinking softer primary spring would do the trick. Not wanting to spend $ on a kit. Just not sure which spring to get? Looking for smoother engagement with good low and midrange could care less about top end.

Schmidt Bros. Motorsports in Michigan offers their "Comfort Clutch Kit". Learned about it from another TY member. Lowers your engagement RPM to ~2800 and also lowers your trail cruising RPM's. It is a sweet mod.....wish I would have added it long ago!

Thanks for the reply, not wanting to spend $ on a kit. I've done some research I think I will go with y-p-y spring. That should get my engagement down to around 3000 rpms and keep everything else pretty much good.

Did you try the new spring yet???
I'm with you, I like the idea of lower engagement, but charging $150 for a spring and calling it a "kit" seems a little tough.

X2, I want to get my RPM's down a bit and maybe a lower engagement would be nice too. I'm on the fence between the W-S-W and Y-P-Y

Comfort Clutch Kit
Their Comfort Clutch kit is more than just a spring. The main cost is in the custom rollers that come in the kit. They make them themselves. Ever price out a set of stock Yamaha rollers? Play with springs all you want..
.....this is the best thing I've ever done to my Vector. Wish I would have put it on 14,000 miles ago!

I just got a chance to try the YPY spring. It lower the engagement to about 3300 rpms and definitely smoothed it out. Not quite as smooth as an attak but still much better. All I did was the spring. Cheap improvement.

Put a set of 14.5 mm rollers in it, you will love the smoother engagement, and improved low to mid range pull. Not to mention it reduces the engine braking too
