Looking for new sled! 2008 apex ltx 40th or 2011 apex se?

Opps I goofed. I meant to say the Ice Attack XT. I keep getting these tracks mixed up. :o|
I like the RipsawII lug much better than the I. Hopefully this year I can see how this track performs in deeper snow over the original Ripsaw.
So far the Ice Attack is great in the hard packed trails.

The ice attak seems like it would do a bit better, and maybe even good enough for this season anyways, but was just wondering on other options! So , thanks again for all the info.

Hopefully it doesn't sell and he will let it go for $5k, as I think that would be a pretty good deal, well for this area at least.

We don't have much snow here at all ( Duluth/Superior area , ) so it might be only river and lake riding for a while anyways

Drive 30 min north and unload... no snow HAHA plenty of snow up the hill if you are in MN and NOT Wisco...

You must run some pretty icy trails... with the liner power curve and spot on throttle response... the ice ripper should be enough... unless you need to ride it like a 2 choke

Yea I'm in superior so no, we don't have anything for riding , especially considering the wild rivers trail right across from my house has 2"+ rocks as a base instead of grass/dirt.. over the hill isn't much better, but somewhat rideable for now. The up or grand Marais is calling my name.

Other than your whole post sounding condescending and sarcastic in a sort, umm thanks.

And what is "riding it like a 2 choke"? Didn't know there was a specific way to ride them.. . :|

Sorry you dont have snow... I know I went through that area recently on my way to the UP... the place I normally ride out of hasn't had snow in like 3 years... Not one mile even on my own 88 acres is sad... but that doesn't stop me from going somewhere... I wish I lived as close to that lake as you do... I'd find a way to ride at least twice a week!!!

I also know the trails are very rideable north of 2 Harbors and you are correct that Grand Marais has the most in MN if you need a powder fix... I figured you were primarily a trail rider by your previous posts and the fact you were even considering a 128...

ME TOO...so reading about how much you need it to grab for acceleration but not one comment about wanting the traction for icy pushed out corners or stopping SMH... That is maybe where my "attitude"changed a little... as I ride only trails and lots of them... I hope I never meet someone head on on my side of the trail... reading about more More MORE from another trail rider makes me worry...

As for riding a two stoke... all I remember is WOT then brake then back to WOT... it has a lot to do with clutching and the power band of a two stroke...

Maybe I was reading into your posts but it seemed like you need or want to be in the throttle a lot... Me too but coming from auto cross racing smooth and steady is always faster... I get that you want better tires on your car but the ones your are suggesting are for drag racing ;)

I still like you :) and the only way we can't be snowmobile friends is if you hurt someone else while riding;)

Now that we're all friends again, you could just come ride in Maine. The snow is incredibly deep (I'm pretty sure all your snow just came here)!

No worries, I just felt like you assumed I was getting studs to tear trails up, and you seemed aggravated or annoyed that I was even asking the question. I was just trying to figure out how to get the power to the ground , in the most efficient way ... 1000 whp cars are fun , but not if it's fwd on all seasons ... That's all I was getting at ;)

Honestly I like to boondock.. ditch ride, trail ride, hit the power lines, etc. Then hitting the lakes once and a while is fun too, bit as long as it's not private property , and I'm not disturbing anyone, I LOVE getting off trail, and is why I got the nytro, even tho it's only got the ripsaw 2 , it's still fun to ride in the fluff once and a while

I've just always wanted an apex. Love the motor, and how they feel on the trail, but the only negative I saw was the shorties not hooking up well, and I love the midrange 30-50 50-70 wot pulls on them .. I do hope we get some more snow soon, as us in superior and at the bottom of the hill have suffered with snowfall pretty bad for the last 3 years .. it's even more frustrating the the state trail is right across the road from me , so I can just get on and go, but we haven't had enough the past few years, even for that. So it's been alot of river riding, riding in lake Superior bay, and some smaller trails /lakes up north . Gets really repetitive when you put 500 miles on the same 30 miles of trail/lake. But that's what we have, so I'll take it!

Like I said , I hope I can get this or even a nice 40th just so I can replace my ol sx700. Yes I know apples to oranges, but that sled holds a special spot, as it was the first one I ever bought. I'm 37 now, so I don't get many firsts anymore :D
 
97sx 700 was the sled that introduced me to the sport of sledding. I do sometimes miss the sounds and smells of the old triple red head but I don't miss the lack of suspension.
Ouch! My back hurts just thinkin' about that. o_O

Agreed on the sounds and smell, for sure.. Was still very quick for its age, being all stock other than a Hauck clutch kit, and gave the nytro a good run for its money .. call me crazy on this one, but I liked the way it handled. Low, and always planted to the ground, usually never lifting a ski.. It wasn't sold because I needed the money ( sold for $1200 ) but rather just for something newer. So hopefully an apex will fill it's shoes well in more ways than one.

The sled that started it for me was a 83 yamaha exell 3 with eletric start and handwarmers that worked from factory.
 
On what sled? If someone offered me 5k on a sled I was asking 5.5k and had cash in hand. That being said there are apex owners taking interest in the winders. I'd take 5k if I was 5.5k remember that you can always go up. Good luck in sale and as a current apex owner if I had a sled to ride I'd wait a season to see what or if Yamaha will do for there current apex die hards.
 
Yea I was gonna offer $5k on the SE... The xtx has been for sale for a while, but the price hasn't moved much
 
Looks like I might have a 2011 SE soon! This being said as the snow is falling... Ahhh , hopefully it turns out to be a good week!

Are there any good things to check for around the 10,000 mile mark? The sled has 9200 and has been maintained pretty flawlessly , but always want to check...

Also, any goodies/parts that are a must have? An extra wheel kit, DuPont's, power add ons, copper donuts etc. Just want to keep this thing tip top..
