I live in Michigan and i am looking for some information for where i can fly out West and do some mountain riding. First time so we are looking to rent sleds and stay for about 4 days. Can anybody give me some locations (state, town) and rental. We would also like options of sleds we can rent. Thanks.

I would have to agree with MTDream. West Yellowstone offers it all. Nice trails for those type of riding, with boondocking areas, along with some good mountain riding for those wanting to venture out, and some more even better mountain riding withing a short travel area.

I am from Wisconsin and have only been out west twice, once to the Snowy Moutains in south eastern Wyoming, and once to Togwotee near Jackson Hole. Both were excellent, I liked Togwotee better though.

Depends on what you want:
If the wife and kids are going with, I say West Yellowstone all the way!!! We were there in Jan 2008 and had weather in the teens most days with a ton of snow!!! Great trails that get groomed EVERYDAY!!!! Can't say that about many other mountain riding areas. And those trails lead you to what most "flat landers...AKA normal riding folk" would consider GREAT boondocking and mountain play areas. Plus you can ride your sled to the IMAX Theater, Dinner, and just about everywhere in town. No need for a rental car, just your sled. Then add into that you can go into the park (on rental 4-Strokes) and be withing 5 feet of a Buffalo. Priceless vacation for a family trip!!!!
Now, if you want to go and tackle the steep and deep. In my opinion there is only one place that offers it all. Revelstoke, BC. There is a place called Glacier House Resort that is trailside to two of the best riding areas in the Rockies. Where a majority of your "extreme Videos" come from. Not to say this is the only place to ride this stuff, but it is among the best. We head up every year in March and typically find 17-22 FEET of compressed snow at the snow stick near the cabin on Boulder Mt. Last year we had 2-3 feet of fresh powder and the riding was great. Not a place most would take the wife and kids. Just my opinion. Not much groomed trail, no access other than trailer your sled to the mountain or rent from Glacier House. GREAT RIDING, but maybe not the best place for everyone.
There are a ton of areas, you just have to ask yourself, how difficult do I want the access to be, the rental car/truck, what kind of riding am I looking for, who is going, what is the purpose of the trip.
For me, if I had a choice of a week in Revy or a Week in West Yellowstone................. It would be a hard decision.................
PM me if you think I can answer any questions for you on these two places, we go regularly.

I have a couple of rental properties in Grand Lake Colorado half mile off the trail and a half mile from a good rental shop (on the trail rentals) if you need them. PM me and I can send you the listings, pictures etc for the cabins.
