- 2008 Yamaha apex LTX
Hello! I am planning on building a 08 apex turbo. I am about to buy a showroom condition 2008 anniversary edition LTX with 3000 miles. ( last I knew 06-09 was the best years to turbo due to the motors stock internals, correct me if I am wrong ) I built one in 2009 and have regretted selling it ever since and I have long lost my build sheet for it.
So far I have only been able to confirm McXpress as a current (kit) I can buy (comes with no clutching) I am unsure of the kit I had used prior but the turbo was not under the seat it was up front to reduce lag ( I had to put after market hood and heat wrap for possible heat problems ) As I would rather not have and ugly air filter coming out behind the seat
. I know I had put a fully clipped track with bombardier 9 tooth drivers. I was running Head shim's on a 91 octane\ 2-3 gal's of c-12 mix per full tank. Overall my mission is to make a near 300 HP trail reliable turbo apex. Fuel is not an issue I can fuel at home with w\e octane. If anyone has some guidance on what is the best of the best to get and where to get it ( maybe a full build sheet ) and all issues I will need to address from top to bottom to make this dream come true. I am starting from scratch here! Thank you for your time.

Sounds sick! You don't see a lot of Apex builds anymore. MCX is a great kit, although more extreme the impulse race turbo kit is amazing but its big money. Either one will use a thicker head gasket to save the engine. Good that you have C12 available.
Use Ulmer Racing for clutching.
Extrovert 9T with a 1.5" track stock gearing and you will be good.
