I just spent some time going over the GT after yesterdays ride. I found the rear bumper was loose. I tried to tighten it only to start striping the bolts. I pulled the rear bumper, examined everything and found the bolts supplied are too short. They have a 12mm head and are 1 inch long.
Some would think 1 inch bolts would be enough. But, if you compare the thickness need to go through the tunnel and the fact that on threaded rivets the threads don't start for at lease 3/8 of an inch. It only leaves 3 to 4 threads to secure the bumper to the machine.
I like to think that when running the machine on the stand it's not going to get away.
I personally am not going to sweat over this….. Just installing longer bolts…….
Just something to look out for…..

YammiMoose, the bolts aren't too short. Your dealer simply installed the bolts that were to go in the rear bumper into the front bumper. You simply need to unbolt the front bumper and swap the bolts!

Srxpec,
Thanks again for the fix. Yesterday my dealer gave me 4 new bolts. I pulled the long ones from the front bumper and I am all set.
