Been lurking here for quite a while and have found lots of good info. I bought an 07 phazer fx this year and have been loving it! I have used this site to pretty much take care of most of my problems before they were problems, so a big thanks to everyone posting helpful info. Last night I started my sled to go for a ride, I let it idle then popped it in reverse and backed out of the garage. When I was out of the garage I looked down and noticed my digital display was blank. It is still backlit so the unit appears orange as usual but with no digital display of any kind. Everything on sled is functioning normally reverse, handwarmers, thumbwarmers, just no readout. I am hoping it is just something easy like a bad ground or fuse. I unplugged unit to try and reset it with no luck. Sled has 1900 miles, 350 are put on by me. I was running in 12 or 13 inches of powder the the day before and it was packed in everywhere.
Checked the 7.5 amp fuse and it was good. I was hoping it was going ot be easy but no such luck.

2 threads on 2 displays by 2 different riders in a couple of days? I hope this isn't a sign of another thing to watch out for.
If the fuse for the display is good, there must be something internal causing the issue AFAIK. If the flex strip providing the connection to the actual LCD was going intermittent, I could see maybe part of the display going out, but not the whole thing all at once. So if someone has the guts to pull the display apart, I would be curious to see if there is an internal fuse or connection point that has failed.
Any takers?
I also have a Grizzly ATV with an LCD, always wondered how long they would last with all the vibration.
Good luck,
Rick

I checked the wiring harness and fuses all good. I did find an area for moisture to get onto circuit board. The guy I bought it from mounted the pod onto the headlight shroud, but didn't make the hole big enough to get the rubber boot to cover connector area. I could see circuit board from bottom side of where it was mounted. If I can see the board then water definetly could have gotten in there. Damn! I should have check his setup thoroughly. Now to buy a new pod.$$$$$$$

Need to buy a new pod asap. Can anyone help. Used from a salvage would be great but chances are slim. Help a fellow phazer rider out.

so i'm not the only one..... same thing happened to me. in my case the pod case was damaged from a roll causing snow to get in places it should't. i'm currently trying to thaw the pod, I discontected it and am going to let it sit indoors for a few days, make sure it's nice and dry...I'll let you know if anything changes, hopefully it does cause I was hoping to take it on a rally this weekend. as far as getting a new pod, they are not cheap. and finding a salvagable one isn't going to be easy. good luck

did some research, found a link .http://www.yamahapartsnation.com/. looks like they sell pretty well any yamaha OEM part, gauge pod is $325 as a compleate assembly.

alright i took my guage pod appart to give t the ol visual. anyways the pod itself has taken some significant damage, i found that the inner stiffener has been severly damaged, the readout plate and the board is fine though. it's reading correctly and i haven;t had any display issues yet. I have to replace the upper pod case ($70) and i'm going to have to live with the damage to the board stiffener plate for now, i'd have to take the sodder off the display plate and there are well over 30 pins there to pull out. I guess this shows just how important protecting the guage pod really is. yikes.
