Love my power steering apex

They better not drop the Apex-R1 combo. my wife's got a RS Vector 3 cylinder and it's not as good all around compared to the 4 cylinder.

So I was curious if it was bad to break my new '12 Apex XTX in yesterday by towing a doo out of the woods?

Everyone complains about the weight of the Apex, until it is towing their doo out. This is not a lie, and I was really bummed that I forgot to put my tow rope in the brand new sled. Good thing I found a ratchet strap to do the job.

I did my first Yamaha demo ride yesterday. been thinking of replacing my 07 nytro which I bought new. my sleds of interest where nytro, vector ltx, all the vipers and the apex xtx. I test drove the apex last. man I saved the best for last! this sled just flat hauls! that eps works great through the twisties. the ergo feel good for my frame (6.4/ 275lbs) and this sled feels light to me. and oh ya the sound! the apex rocks! I want one!

I just came home after 10 days in Maine . 4 days in Jackman including a day of riding in over 20 inches of new powder. I was unstoppable on my Apex XTX. It powers through deep snow ( over 3 feet in some parts)and just does not get stuck. I took my 07 Attak GT out and buried it in the deep powder. I love that Attak GT but it can not do what the XTX can do.Also rode a day in the Katadin loop at the legendary Jo-Mary trails and I have never ridden those trails any faster than I did with my 14 XTX.Nothing could keep up. The acceleration out of the turns is unmatched. The power steering works great , especially in the tighter turns.I run Simmons skis and I have the sled dialed in and the XTX rails. I get a kick when I stop at an intersection and wait for some of the others and they can't believe that a "heavy Yamaha "can run this fast on these trails. Then I am up in the county on the super fast wide trails with big sweeper turns and it is just lights out. Permagrin is the word that comes to mind. All of this performance and unmatched reliability to boot. I was at my dealer and we calculated that my family has ridden about 65,000 miles on our 04 Warrior,05 vector,4 07 Attaks and now a 14 Apex XTX and we have not had any major issues. Yes we have done the donuts , and the excell wheels ( on the 07's ) but we have been able to get back to camp or home each time.I hear some of the complaints about weight and hyfax issues but we have a great dealer and he has solved those issues for us.snowmobiling is about getting as much time on the sled as possible since it is a short season and we have got our monies worth with our 4 stroke Yamahas.

Awesome....thanks..

The only way to make an Apex better is to turbo it!!! I love my turbo apex, this chassis just hands down rocks and the fact it can easily take the extra power makes it a winner

Nice write-up!

I was contemplating selling my Apex in favor of a 1200 Doo. That was until I tried Snowtrackers on my OE skiis. After adjusting transfer to min and running the trails without pushing or darting I have fallen back in love with my Apex. I love how the EPS allows us to use of any ski/carbide combination without causing heavy steering!!!

I picked up an air ride GSX (1200) Doo for my wife this year and I will say that it provides a superior ride than my Yammi. Couple that with all the comfort features the Doo provides her.. it makes it the right sled for her.

I now am on a quest to improve upon the Float Mega shock used in my SE because, frankly, there is room for improvement. I think a new rear shock and seat upgrade will be just the ticket to making the SE perfect in my estimation.

Doug, maybe a set of Ohlins on the front? I hear you about the GSX 1200 Doo. It is a great riding sled. I give credit to where it's Doo. But I can not see myself on a 1200 just for the ride. I need the pull of a bullet train first. I have been dialing in my XTX a little bit at a time and I love it. Despite what the Doo guys say you cannot top the apex 4 cylinder motor. No way no how. If I jumped ship I think I would love the R motion but I am not that far behind with my set up.Also,I would be giving up the head rush of the apex's acceleration that you do not get with the 1200 unless you add hot rod parts. No thanks. Also, I have owned Doo's and the stator issues concern me. Its not a rip on BRP but they have had some quality issues. They make great stuff but I am more confident in the quality of the 4 stroke Yamaha.

Amen... Preach it!!!

I like the floats on the front end. I have added Hygear's remote dual pressure resi's and they are fantastic! My only dissatisfaction is with the rear.

Sorry to hijack the thread. Back to the EPS... did I say I love it?

What's a seat upgrade consist of?

I've never riden a Doo 1200... are they really that much slower (acceleration wise). Seems 10hp would be hard to notice.

I just thought I would comment on my experience of sleds over past years and how happy I am on my apex compared to a lot of new chassis that everyone thinks they need. I have bought NEW yamahas every 2 to 4 years since 1995. Only one time did I needed warrenty work and that was on my 1998 srx700 that all had crank problems. But this year after reading all the hype on ski-doo xp I bought a used 10 xrs with 600 e-tec for my wife. I was excited to ride it very light and great shocks. Not to bash ski-doos but they are not that much better at anything other than ruff trail performance compared to my 11 apex. And they are week. Always tearing suspension wheels off, tore up single ply track slightly bumped front bumper into another sled and bent up to easly IMO. I was very close on buying new viper but I ride with a lot of new cats and can not believe the endless problems they have. I have a friend with new 2013 800rr has blown 2 belts 1 chain case and is on 2nd starter this year alone. Another has a 12 turbo, blows belts every 500 miles 1 chain case and many other misc problems ever time we ride. I could comment and more of my other Buddys all with turbos and are always some thing wrong mainly belts and chain case issues. But I see everyone upset Yamaha did not build new light weight chassis this year for apex. Have you actually rode other brands on the trail side by side? IMO the apex is as good or better than anything on a groomed trail! And I have rode them side by side. And you can beat the tar out of it and not have it ruin your weekend like more and more of these light weight through away sleds are becoming! Thank you Yamaha for building me your apex. It is a great sled and does not get the credit it deserves IMO.
Well said!!! I have owned many also and the power steering apex is far the best for me!!!

I will be contacting these guys in the off season regarding the seat. I would like it taller:

The 1200 doo has great acceleration it just falls off at the top end. Lack of HP but plenty torque.
