Hey Guys,
Just came in from a 50 mile ride. After stopping and restarting at 40 miles, the sled was idling at 860 RPM and continued to drop to that level every time I stopped. Sounded like it was about to stall. Once getting back to the house I shut it off and restarted....back to idling at 1,500 RPM.
What may have caused this and should I risk going back out into the wilderness for a long ride tonight?
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Want to avoid a potential crisis/disaster. @ 320 miles on sled.
Thanks in advance

Same here, it actually did die on me at a road crossing but started right back up and no problems since. Over 500 miles ago.

Mine has done it twice, 1st time with 30 miles, 2nd time today with 700 miles. Not happy about it............. Oil light actually flashed today, probably because motor was just barely running.

Hopefully this fandom reflash will help with all the stupid stuff we are not used too!

Happens twice for me, first time we were driving slow and noticed engine was running a little rough, the oil light was flashing on a couple times and when I came to a complete stop engine went to 560 rpm and then flashed oil pressure light once and quit. Shut engine off counted to 10 and engine started right up an did not repeat in the remainder of the ride. That was at about 560 miles.
The second time my wife was riding the sled and the same thing happened. About 720 miles. 890 miles now without repeat.
Don't believe it's a oil pressure issue, really believe it's in the ECU. If it was oil pressure it would not go away would have problems all the time.

Happened to me 3 times,
First time it was while pushing on a overriden extremely bumpy trail, I thought it may have something to do with the oil getting thrown around and sensor not getting a proper reading. I shut it off for a few minutes later it started up fine.
Second time it was while playing in deep powder well off the trail, again I shut it off and a few minuted latert sarted again fine, however this time it caused a major ordeal getting the machine started in the deep snow.
Third time I had just completed a trip and while raising my trailer getting ready to load it did it again, and again it started up fine after a few minutes.
Good news is it hasent happened in about 2000 kms now, which is great becuase I do plenty of remote sledding alone.

Thanks guys. I am at ease and will get back out there. I have to assume Tim is right and the eventual reflash will correct it.

This may sound stupid but when I first got my sled I had the 1338 code several times and had the hard starting. I ran some lucas fuel injector cleaner through it and it hasn't flashed the codes since. Sometimes it cranks for a few seconds now but it always starts. Not sure if it was the injector cleaner or just an ecu learning thing, but it has gotten better with time.
Mine seems to do it about every 4th restart, have 1800 miles on it now. I just shut it off and restart and it is back to normal. Hopefully an ECU update is coming soon...

Likewise mine did the same thing.. Idled at 800rpm and wanted to die. Restarted and no issues rest of the ride. I'm convinced it's an ecu issue with a glitch in the software! Haven't had an issue in 800+ miles and the sled has around 1300 now!

Anyone have an idea what is really happening here? To me it acts like it drops a cylinder, but really not sure. Or is it going into some sort of limp home mode? I would think if that was the case it would still idle. If it's running on 2 that can't be very good for things.
Mine is not running on 2 cyl's when I get the low idle, it is just idles low.. I can ride it when I get the low idle issue, once off idle it runs normal but when it goes back to idle it remains low until a restart.

I'll talk good to say that Yamaha is aware of the issue and will fix it. We just have to be patient. Ya easy for me to say! I'm pretty impatient, but I try my bestest! We will get everything fixed! It is a awesome sled! It just sucks when your sled is in the shop!

I do find my myself posting mostly looking for fixes and upgrades, but yes other than all these little things...this is a great sled and I am very happy with it - Just needs to be tweaked and personalized. No different from the nytro from what I have read.
Looking forward to riding the 2015's in a few weeks...hoping the new rear shock package and tuner skis perfect my complaints. I will just upgrade to all of those components this summer.
