Thanks for the pics that compare the two windshields. I like them both!
Funny, I did the same thing this weekend. I ordered and put on Cat's 7000 Mid in all Black. This weekend I had changed them back and forth to see what I liked best. I do like the stock windshield and didn't get cold at all this past winter. However, riding at high speeds across lakes, I felt like I was going to get ripped off the sled. The taller mid should provide more wind protection around the helmet area. Here are my before and after shots.

Looks good!
I also like the stock low windshield. The blue chrome looks great in the sunlight. But I won't be able to stand it if we have another winter like last year (temp-wise anyway). I completely froze last year on my FX Nytro with it's tiny windshield. I couldn't put enough layers on to stay warm last year ... not going through that again this year.

Nice! I just ordered that same Cat 7000 mid windshield today... I had the Cat low shield last year and while it looked cool I'm looking forward to a little more wind pro! Thanks for the pics that compare the two windshields. Cool. I really like the look of the Cat low windshield as well, but got thinking that it probably doesn't do much to block much wind, so opted to go with the mid.

Putz do the hand guards clear the mid windshield?

Is there a mid-height windshield offered in all black? Unless I missed it (the black windy) but I only see a white (and other Cat colors) offered through AC.

You know what, I never turned my handlebar after I put the windshield on last weekend. I think it will clear it.....but don't quote me on it as I didn't turn the bars.

Yeah, they have an all black mid-height. I have it on my sled right now.

The Yamaha med windshield (std on the DX models) is available in smoke. Pg 58 of the accessory catalog that Cannondale posted.
Windshield heights jump from 9.5 (low) to 20.4 with nothing in between. That's over 100% increase in height

I was on the cat acc page yesterday looking at my mirror options ,, ( not sold on bug antenna type ), I know they have mirrors on the windshields. They have a lot more options for 7000's for windshields.... don't know if they are interchangeable .. IE .holes matching .
I wonder how Yamaha measurements work compared to Cat? The Cat shields are much lower in their measurements. They state that they measure vertically from the "intake vent" to the top of the shield. I've seen reference to Cat shields measuring tip to top on Country Cat's site and I think this is how Yamaha is measuring theirs.
According to the footnotes the Cat mid and high shields will accept mirrors. The LXR is the one that I keep coming back to.
on edit: I may be confusing the Crosstour shield with the LXR. The crosstour is nice, but maybe a bit bulky. I rode the Crosstour and the shield was excellent. The LXR might be a bit sportier. The Crosstour that I rode had the mirrors removed so I cannot comment on how well they worked.

This is the mid from Cat that shouldn't require any mods: http://countrycat.com/ccstore/index.php/arctic-cat-mid-windshield-black-2014-2015-zr-xf-m-7000.html
Yes the handguards clear it... Looked at the one the dealer had on the show floor.

Thanks guys! I am thinking the mid windy might give more wind protection than the stock windshield.
