Never had the new Nytro out yet, but I've heard the problem of excessive hyfax wear.
I have a set of Yammy's marginal snow wheels and I am just wondering where would be the best location to mount them?
Is hyfax wear even through out the rail or more front or back?
It is an MTX 153"
thanks in advance

My wear has been towards the back. Obviously as more people chime in you'll get a better idea of where it is typically wearing out. If I was installing them, I would put them in the second set of holes, forward of the rear wheels.

I just changed mine and they were almost gone at the bend of the rails.

I put mine up front too - when I removed the hyfax and looked at the wear pattern, it was the amount of track tension on the front bend in the rails that caused the most hyfax wear at that point, even running the track as loose as possible on my MTX without racheting, you still can't put your finger in between the hyfax and the track at that location, so I think they do justice in that spot.

Yamaha float plate...?
Hey Nytro23...
I saw that you fitted a stock Yamaha float plate using the stock grab bumper.
Any chance you could show us some photos on how you did it?
Did you move the plate back a couple inches or need to cut more clearance around the arms?
Or put new holes in at the front for the clamps??
Thanx

float plate
The float plate has pre drilled holes that line up with the buttons that are removed on the underside belly pan, you pretty much install it the same as the stock plate.
The Yamaha accessory catalog says you have to buy their sport bumper, not the case. I did not have to cut or trim anything.
But having said all this it is my opinion that this is not a very good plate at all. It holds too much snow; I would not buy another one.

Wear and tear
This should help with the drag and wear

A dozen per side maybe will help make them last

Re: float plate
I appreciate the reply. Good food for thought.

Thanx guys,
Seems the best place to mount the wheels is at the front, as close to the curve up in the rails as possible

I had over 700 miles on mine last year, no appreciable hyfax wear. Never had to adjust the track, either. Mine's non-turbo, though.

I forgot that limiter strap length probably adds to the wear up front, mine are all the way out.

i sucked up my limiters. They would wear down to the lines in 50 miles.Track was loose with anti-ratchets.
Wear points were at the front rail bend & 3/4 towards the back.
