Hi guys need a little advice and maybe the apex forum is a better spot not sure.

Sled is 03 RX with Apex front a arms, and apex GYTR shocks, also have a 13mm sway bar and longer links. The sled is real tippy right now but I expected that because its on full soft. Any tips of what I can try here is the set up:

Preload on springs set to 0, any looser and the spring would be loose when the ski is in the air

Rebound = 6/12
Compression = 1/12
Zx2 is factory 2/4 on revolver
Simmons skis 8" tripple points on inside

The a arms are NOT level is still sits up in the air, I don't know if I can get them level or not the preload is as loose as it goes.

My plans are to go 12/12 on the compression clicker and possibly play with the zx2 from full transer to full ski pressure and see if I can find a happy medium.

I can get a foot of inside ski lift when making a slow speed u turn, haven't taken it down a groomed trail yet but will be soon hopefully. Thanks!

load the front springs 6 turnsand try it. Paul

Too soft on the front preload, it's rolling over to the outside in the corners.

The 13mm sway bar is great, but if it's just connecting "soft" with "soft", there's still no resistance to squat on the o/s side.

More front shock preload , try pulling the limiters 1 hole.

Its a combination of front and back. The back tends to cause the skis to lift, and the front doesn't push out far enough to keep the skis down.

Whats going on in the front? Is it just the apex arms or did you also change the steering knuckles and spindles? If you are still using the 03 steering knuckles and spindles, it will tend to hold the front end up very high and could cause tippiness. If you have the apex steering knuckles and spindles, you can NEVER get the A-arms level.... it would just send it too close to the ground.

Kinger, definitely move the pins in the revolver on the ZX2 to the number 5 position. This helped with my ski lift issue.

LB - Using all apex hardware down to the spindles and even tie rods since they are a touch longer.

Thanks grimm I will switch that on the next ride, although not sure when that will be this heat is taking every last bit of snow we have, time to hit the lake!

The Apex parts should close the gap between roll center and center of gravity but if the spring pre-load is too soft and the rear limiter strap is too long you are setting the sled back on the haunches and allowing the front to roll with the sled through the turn. I just took 2 notches out of my limiter and the cornering is unbelievable. I just got back from 9 days in the UP and finally got the machine dialed in for the sled fest and most of it was cancelled due to the 40 deg's and rain.

I now have 1900 miles (in 14 days) on the new RApeX-1 and she is cookin. I can still bring the inside ski up if I want it but for the most part it is as flat in the corners as I would want it.

I did not have the time I took it. I am going back up if it snows this weekend and Tuesday we leave for Idaho with a stop in the black hills on the way back.

Can't wait :Rockon: :Rockon: :Rockon: :Rockon:

Can you elaboroate on this LB? Can't figure out why it wouldn't be level?

BTW I went 6 turns on the springs and it handles MUCH better!

The RS and 06+RX have shorter spindles than 03-05RX, so with the body at the same height, the arms have to be angled steeper to reach from the bulkhead to the knuckles. With the arms flat on the RS or 06+RX, the body would be sitting lower than the 03-05RX by the difference in the height of the spindles. I had previously believed, and you have verified, that the spring preload would have to be BELOW ZERO in order for this condition to occur. Having less than no preload is extremely dangerous.
