i'll tell you what yamaha had a good idea on cost and weight savings going with this piece of sh!# track. i cant stand this thing , no hook on hard pack and wont climb anything. and has actually let me down enough to have rolled the sled twice because of the lack of traction. definately dosent do the power of the 500 justice on the trail, not really any weight to this post just a rant, you know but if you know anyone that only rides in waist deep fluff on flat ground that would wanna trade me for a challenger let me know , haha if anyone on here know where i can find a reasonably priced track to cut down for this thing let me know. good learing experience rolling this thing down hills though. throttling out only works when you have the grip, if anyone else has had this type of problem, post a reply and share your story. today i broke the windshield bent the handlebars and brake lever , bent the pod again and it still started right up idled and drove away man i love my phazer

So you had bent your pod mount at least once before and you hadn't mounted it in a better spot

phzaer mtn cannot climb, not enough track speed and track is crap, bad approach angle, a real trencher but i still like the sled, for what it can do

definently! I bought the phazer mtn and drove it for one month before returning it for an apex mtn se. The only thing wrong with the apex besides the weight which can be corrected is the track as well. Backcointrymafia said it right in his above post. The challenger extreme is the best of both worlds on and off trail!

1366 miles on mine and I'm more than a little concerned about the rips I'm seeing in the lugs. Nothing broke off yet but I'm thinking a replacement is in order for next season. Kind of dissapointed because this sled is used mainly for boondocking. I see the Nytro MTX got a new compound for 2010. I wonder if its a stronger compound than what we have now. I have had no complaints with the performance of the track in snow and I'm usually very careful on the trails with the this sled. We'll see what happens but I'm going to start looking for a new track next fall.

After seeing how useless the maverick was, we installed a 151 Challenger 2.3 and just set the suspension back. Setting it back and building custom blocks raised it 3". Machine does very well in deep snow now, which is good, I got tired of digging my wife out.
