Did you happen to read the maximum sled article of the 05' RX-1. They didn't have one bad thing to say. They loved the skid and the power along with the weight loss. Sounds like Yamaha did its homework again.

Did you ever notice how many times you see a yamaha add in a magazine.. usually 2-3 times in one mag...
All brands pay to have praise said about there sleds... later on in the year they say bad things about the sleds... Happens every year..
I bought a 02 viper NEW and the ranted and raved.... 130+ hp and big bump suspension etc.. etc........ Later on they complained how bad it rode (which it did) and only had about 120hp in the end! Needless to say my back couldnt take it anymore!!
Dont alway believe what the mags say at the beginning.. They probobly only rode them for 5 minutes.. IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU COULD THOUGH!!!

I've always felt that the spring mags were the ones full of bs, to stimulate demand for snow checks. But, by the time we read most of the fall issues, the truth starts filtering through, as to calibrations and performance. I don't ever remember anyone crowing about the 02 Viper, at least suspension wise, other than it was "firm". (translation: harsh) I still have memories of my brother hating life on his in the rough stuff. I have heard alot of serious praise about the new RX1 suspension however, from several sources, which leads me to believe, we might just be on to a good thing this year.

They did talk up the viper pretty bad at first!

I have to agree here. The early reports in ALL the magazines, regarding the Viper, had that sled being the BEST sled Yamaha had come out with in years....I was BITTERLY disappointed in the ride charecteristics of my Viper....even after installing the "softer" shocks and springs Yamaha offered the following fall....which, by the way, was a huge thing in my mind. For Yamaha to step up to the plate and try to correct a wrong was a very good thing.
I've had several discussions with Bruce Schrader of Pioneer Performance regarding Yamaha rear skids. He seems to feel, that to a large extent, Yamaha suspension engineers thought that consumers wanted sleds that were great in straight line DRAG races...

If you want ways to improve '03 and '04 Proaction skids, you should talk to Pioneer Performance. Some things are amazingly cheap and simple....but do as I did and support Bruce by purchasing some things as well!

I was just reporting what I read. Take it for what it is worth. If you don't want to beleive it then don't. I am trying to be positive.

I wasn't trying to rip on you in any way! Sorry if you took it in that manner....just pointing out my Viper experiences and plugging Bruce Schrader! I have read numerous positive articles about the '05 RX-1 and Vector....and I've made sure that my "Doo" and "Poo" friends have received copies!

My favorite mag by far is Snowtech, because of all the technical information and product reviews that they do. They also are pretty straightforward when reviewing a sled - and they had a glowing report as well.
Maybe if you were a Yami guy, it may have seemed like the Viper was talked up, but personally I can't remember it being overly hyped up by the mags. Only the Yami ads that called it the"Big Bump Champ" which was an absolute joke.

It was the article in SnowTech that convinced me I should buy the Viper! I respect their opinions highly....something happened to the shock and spring calibrations between the time the test ride was done in the spring and the actual production units....SnowTech brought this up on a couple of occasions during the following winter....that has made me very leery of putting too much faith in those "spring reports"....but we don't have too much choice!

. I know there are good people on this site. I just have to remember that not everyone thinks positive, you always will have those few who nothing is good enough for, no article, snowmobile, or anything for that matter. THUNDER STRUCK

If it didn't come from so many sources then I'd be skeptical. Even padded reviews generally focus on the strong points (lending themselves some credibility) and that strong point seems to be the new monoshock. Dealers that I've talked to say that they aren't selling many warriors this year, everyone wants the new RX-1. I would expect an update to the warrior next year with the RX-1 staying generally the same.
