Anyone else out there running the MBRP canister and the Heavy Hitters on there 03 RX-1 shorty? I'm wondering now if my performance is suffering because I need to jet up with the MBRP. Or do I just need to fine tune my Heavy Hitters? We don't have very much snow here in Northern N.Y.. Somewhere between 2-3 " but it has been very cold here all week. Do you suppose if I tested on these conditions that it would be the same as say hardpacked trails? The ground is frozen solid mind you.
(BBY) Matt I tried calling you today at the shop but you were busy.I'd really like to talk to you on the phone and maybe get a close set up for my HH's and some advice on perhaps jetting. I'd like to test on Sat.
Thanks C.J. aka RXONE

Does that can have a crossover in the pipe? I remember reading about the RX-1 development and the engineers having issues with the exaust not getting the torque they wanted. They finally achieved good numbers by inserting a crossover. I know some of the aftermarket one's don't have it to save money. The issues you are having could be do to lower torque numbers.

MBRP exhaust & HH

RXONE,
What kind of performance problems are you having with your sled,
RPM's, carb bog, clutch problems ?? I am interested because I also am using HH on my sled and if my order from MCB ever comes in, I will also have the MBRP exhaust. We've received lots of snow recently so I will be testing once I get my exhaust. :?:

Mighty, according to MBRP there is a crossover hole in the pipes and this occurs where the two pipes meet and are welded together. I asked for some info concerning hp & torque and all I got were hp values per their dyno results and they look pretty good in comparrison to stock !! :!:

Once I get the exhaust I will be sure to check on the crossover issue,
I hope my research holds true because I've always loved the sound, performance, and quality of the MBRP exhaust systems and I feel this one will also have a rich sound and the 3-4 added hp is all good !!!

MBRP silencer !!

Well here goes my report on the 1 month wait for what was suppossed to be a week waiting period !!

I finally got my MBRP silencer so I went straight to the garage for installation, checked out the crossover issue and yes this is a true X crossover design.

Did the exhaust system installation, damn those exhaust gaskets suck, should have ordered them a month ago it would have made the job much easier and for $12.00 a piece it's well worth the lack of aggrivation. I wish at least 1 YAMAHA shop around here would stock the damn things!!

After installation and before I hide the exhaust under the seat, I fired up the sled so that I could make sure the pipes were not leaking. The sled sounds OK, kind of a muffled quiet sound. Let's see how it runs on the stand ? Nice throttle response up to 1/4 throttle, anything above that will have to be tuned for the sled has alot of backfiring, coughing, and hesitation.

Alrighty then, let's finish the job, but wait the heat shield/ seat anchor will not fit back on over this new can !!! Left tailpipe is about 1.5" to far forward and the right tailpipe is about a 1/2" off in the opposite direction !

So I had to send it back, to bad because this was a well built and nice looking system and with some carb tuning it should have worked well !!!

I put my stock sytem back on and took the sled for a ride and it sure runs sweet in stock form. [/b]
