MC Xpress takes the Blow off valve off the turbo and puts it up on the intercooler. I assume they do this because it gets it up in the motor area where it is easy to run a boost line to it. But as we are finding out more blow off valve and closer to the turbo is better for throttle chop. So why not move the BOV back to the turbo OR, put a second BOV back on the turbo and run a boost line back to it? Has anyone done this or can anyone tell me why this would not be a good thing? I happen to have an extra one of these BOV's with my extra turbo and may try it based on the feedback I receive here.

Blow off valve

I added another between the front and rear coolers. Really didnt help anything You can here both blow off now..... I think with the fuelies there is no need

bov

i have the mcxpress apex, rear mount the dealer put my BOV at the turbo on the rear i cant tell if it is better there or not havent run one with the BOV up front,i dont think it makes much of a diff

Her's my two cents worth; having the BOV at the intercooler will (IMO) protect the intercooler from the spikes better than one mounted at the turbo. The advatage of a BOV at the turbo would be if you create a regenerative circuit where the exhaust from the BOV is routed back into the inlet to the turbo. (Theoretically allows the turbo to remain spooled up, minimizing "lag")

Having the blow off valve back at the turbo is not as good because you need to pull a vacum from the intake to get the valve to open. The closer this valve is to the intake, the shorter the hose is and the faster it reacts to the vacum signal (Throttle Chop) The larger the 2nd blow off valve is the better the results (I run 2 valves, the one one the intercooler has stock from MCX now and a second one in the rubber charge tube before it hooks on to the intercooler right above the carbs (RX-1) and it has a 3" long hose "T"ed to two of the spigots in between the carbs and motor.) By the way Freak, great job at the BIS, damn your sled cranks ;)! I have been running turbo's since the 90s and using blow off valves all the time. (Large SKS models) MCX never even had blow off valves at 1st and the turbos were stalling when you chopped the throttle. They build an awesome kit now but it needs a WAY LARGER blow off valve even more so for you guys with High Boost. Buy the biggest one you can afford and fit under the hood, mount it close to the intake for a fast, strong signal and kick even more a$$ :flag:
