The placement of the oil pump on the stator/flywheel cover requires you sand/file down the three little dimples around the balck screw in access plug so the pump will bottom out when you screw it in. How far can you go and how much can be removed before its too far?

Don`t go any longer then necessary, but be sure to go long enough! :)

You wount make a hole in the cover if you grind lets say 1mm too deep. I have never tried grinding through one so I dont know but if it was critical the installation instructions would have told you to be very careful.

cover

Flush with cover is too far!!! Leaves very thin metal at 3 o'clock and 7 o'clock holes! instructions do not mention this!!!!

Install the oilpump temporarily without the sheerpin and the o-ring, thread it in and see if you have removed enough, that`s what I would do if I felt unsure on how much to grind off.
I was also scared when I did this, felt that I removed too much, but it was all good.

I would grind a tad more than flush. As long as the oil pump will seat properly the O-ring will seal perfectly :)

nubs

Actually I picked up another cover to be safe. it turns out there are three bolts on the inside of the cover in line with these 3 nubs. No oil could pass anyway. I left the old cover on and applied some JB weld to the holes, should be fine. I had gone flush with the face of the cover and this left a paper thin layer which I poked through will my finger nail. The instructions say grind off the three dents, no mention how far or why. Should read "slightly grind off the three raised areas so that when screwing oil pump in the body of pump seats tight to the flat area around hole. Be careful not to remove more than necessary".

I did that to it´s skrews behinde the nubs
Take some epoxi glue to seal it.
No problem for 2 years now.

The install manual is very specific on how to grind, if followed to the T all is well. I have installed a few and have never encountered any problems with grinding off too much material.

Grind off only in the area that obstructs the oil pump. If you take a look at the back side of the oil pump you will get an idea of where to grind.

manual

Rxrider, you must have a very different set of instructions than I do.

instructions

I will guess that things get lost in translation, most people I speak with here in North America say the hardest part for them was figuring out the directions and once having done one install the second one could be done in half the time. for example the mounting of the TCV is not even mentioned in the english instructions, once someone tells you where to put it though it makes perfect sense and you would think well thats obvious. I have half a mind to re-write the instruction manual and send it to MCX! But then I guess I would just open myself up to criticism of the things I left out! Ha! First time doing one so I'm taking my time and asking lots of questions, thanks to people like yourself and others here on TY answers are easy to come by. Cheers!

I agree, the English is not the best. Beeing a Scandinavian myself it may be easier for me to understand the Swenglish :)
And yes I have installed a few MCX turbo systems on most models over the year, that helps a lot too.
