who is running a MCX 270 kit? I was told that new pistons and connecting rods were needed to run this set up. Just wondering what people have done or what problems have arose. I ran the MCX 190 kit for two years. Loved it. But now have upgraded to the 270 kit. Kind of worried about any potential problems.

It's a 2014. I know the MCX 190 i had dynoed at Dynotech . And all the numbers were spot on as far as air fuel ratio. Was running 6 lbs of boost. Ran beautiful. Now with this extra hp. I ll have to add more weight in the clutching. Hoping to run 14-15 lbs of boost

Does that kit come with the upgraded fuel pump and larger injectors or a 4th injector? Are you adding head shim or pulling timing with a PCv or a re-flash from EVO?

That is what they were probably referring to. You have to lower compression or pull timing to run anything other than 110 octane race gas at that kind of hp on a stock motor. especially at lower Altitude.

MCX 270 kit comes with a head shim and 3 extra injectors in the intercooler - one for each cylinder right at the throttle bodies

Wow that's risky the stock pump is not supposed to support more than about 7 lbs and that was the first thing I did to mine wen I raised it to 7 & 9 lbs the first time before going to 13#'s

Stock pump is fine with this kit afr holds around 11 wide open at 15lbs

My mcx 270hp kit has been great but it did not run up to its full potential until I put the intake through the hood

It is more of a fuel regulator problem above 6 pounds of boost. EVO has you remove the stock fuel pressure regulator and add an external one to run 15 pounds of boost.

Yeah its crazy how after 3 yrs with this machine there are so many discrepancies in opinion on what will and won't work. In 13 when originally doing big hp or #'s we were told that the stock fuel injectors would not handle anything over 6 #'s and a 4th would have to be added along with an upgraded pump ( pump not regulator). Then they said the oversized injectors would not work cause the controllers would not allow to reduce fuel flow at low rpms or idle now everyone is doing it.

There's more than one way to skin a cat. Everyone seems to have there own way of doing it. MCX can use the stock pump/regulator because they have 6 injectors so they don't need to hold the fuel pressure. The fuel pressure can drop and they can still supply enough fuel because of the 6 injectors.

Yeah and the CAT lobby is a little tired of that:ban:

6 injectors? that must look like a porcupine under the hood, I had enough trouble learning a 2nd gems controller to work the 4th injector:o|

They use the 3 stock ones and 3 extras in the intercooler. Everything is pre-programmed and seems to run spot on.
