Spent more time surfing today than working and came across the MCX North American web site www.mcxpressturbos.com. They have listed a 115 hp turbo kit for the Phazer as "coming soon". Has anyone talked to these guys or know any info on this kit? This seems to be in the sweet spot of what most people would want to see out of a Phazer motor.

I have a Phazer with MCXpress turbo (140hp) with 1886 miles and new electronics you can buy whole sled for price of kit ;)!

Lol, great. But the 140 hp kit doesn't seem real practical for us flat lander trail riders.

Says who?

There is info about this kit in a Swedish sled magazine. It's a guy here that have made this kit with 115 hp and MCX have made a copy of that kit and will start to sell it. You will keep the compression ratio and the turbo will load about 0.4 bar.

I would want to run pump gas and not race fuel or have to worry about octane booster when trail riding. I wonder how the the motor internals hold up with this kit? I sent an email to MCX NA and got this response.

Hey Brett,

It is developed; however, I haven't received any into North America yet.
It will be much like a Nytro 190 HP kit - where in which it runs on stock
compression and just the stock injectors (so basically a "bolt-on" kit).

0.4 bar isnt even 6 PSI, so Im pretty sure thats a pump gas option

Yep, I confirmed with MCX that it would use 91 octane or higher. I wonder how well the Phazer motor would hold together with this turbo kit? It looks like this kit isnt much cheaper than the 140 hp kit at approx. $4,500. It is alot of money for a small Hp gain. The interest for me would be pump gas and less stress on the motor than the 140 Hp kit. It could be fun and alot cheaper than a new Viper :)

I read the article and aparently it's some sort of mechanical wiz friend of the mcx owners who made a turbo kit from a nytro kit and a phazer mtx intercooler and got it running real good and an easy install. It get rids of the problems with the engine characteristics beeing sucky before you build boost when you lower the compression but this kit still delivers a good powerboost..

It does kinda make sense though... when it comes to FI, the power is in the boost levels. So for the most part, it takes about the same items to make 115 hp at low boost as it does to make 140 at higher boost.

having said that, I agree! thats a big chunk of change
