i Bought a brand new Phazer MTX -08, saw Mountain Mod Mania 5 and decided that i had to have TURBO!!!
i live near MCX and a lot of sleds has their kits, and are very satisfied. i was also satisfied with my Turbokit to Phazer, did get some more POWER and was really funny to ride.
When i went over to MCxpress and Erik to buy my kit, he showed me a pair of aftermarket flexcompensators for exhaust that they reccomend, he said that OEM wouldnt last forever. ok i thougt, a season at least they should work.
after 750km the OEM did say godbye. ok nice, McXpres has new ones, so that wasnt a big problem, just go over there and catch them up. he said they could handle 1200celsius and are the best. okey, he know what hes talking about i thougt, thay have been Turboing sleds and motorcycles for years.
Did TIG Weld them on exhaust and remowed OEM couplings so Exhaust was ONE part from Cylinder head to Turbo, least problems so.
after 100km my sled Burned under tank, had a really hard time to put out the fire, the sled is really compact. got home and thougt that something else has started the fire, my flexcompensators was almost brand new!
did take my sled to my dealer and did investigate if i could use my insurance to cover it. at dealers shop the mecanic put some pressure in exhaust outlet and it did leak from my almost new flexcompensators. WTF!!!!
i become really upset, i thougt that they dont leak so much, my insurance company did investigate IF i could se insurence because i had Turboconverted. they could solve it, if i pay 20% of repair costs.
i called Mcxpress and talked to Erik. he said also that the most truly thing was that it had leaked, and started the fire. but he said that they couldnt take any responsibility for the fire, he would give me a pair of new flexcompensators if i returned the faulty ones. but he didnt wanna take any responsibility for my Fire.
HE SAID THAT IT DONT WORK TO THEM TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY???
they Manufactur really nice stuff, but shouldnt they take some care of their customers???
he wasnt willing to take even a small cost! not a penny.
he said that he hasnt even seen the stuff. but why show him when he isnt interested to take any responsibility even if i proof that it was there the fire started.
its like buy our stuff, they are really nice to talk to, until you get problems or has complains about anything.
what do you guys think?
if i would blew the engine apart that one thing that i could understand and accept, but fire? its the least i expected to happen. if he sells a part that dont stands up for what he says, i think that he would show some goodwill to fix the problem/damage.
the hole sled didnt burn up but fueltank and ignitioncoils, heatshields, and some electric cables is the major stuff.
im for sure that im not going to shop anything that he sells.
Mcxpress customer treatment sucks!

That sucks, I hate to see you having problems with your sled. Other than that, what you do with your sled is your responsibility. I assume you have read the disclaimer in the turbo install manual. I hope your insurance company will be good to you and that you can fix your sled soon.

Did you any leak test after you welded them?
They must have had a leak right from the start, and you are not the first one to get one of those, look at Boondockers kit that use Flexpipes and they have had there fare share of fires, if you look for example here: http://www.a-alt-avgassystem.se/flexror.htm i´m not surprised that many have leaks, you can see right thru the walls on the one that´s closest left.
It is never funny to have trouble, any kind of trouble, but i think that holding Erik responsible just aint right!
I problably would have reacted just like you first if it happend to me, but i belive that the faulting item here is the flexpipe it self.
Just my 5 cent!

that sucks man....
Did you check that there were no leaks after you welded them?
I've seen lots of broken oem flexpipes, but never seen one catch fire...where you running lean?
What caused it to catch fire? Was the exhasut hot enough to catch the fueltank on fire itself? Did you have any fuel leaks?
I've always had GREAT luck with MCX customer service, and I know of atleast one motor he bought for a customer that broke down...
