Mechanic In A Bottle Update/Test

I've used Seafoam for at least 7 years, had to clean the carbs at the beginning of each season @ least twice.

NOT THIS YEAR!

Same here l had to clean mine using seafoam when I used av gas I never had too.

Same here seafoam was not any better. EVERY year we had to clean carbs, the apex solved this for me but my dad still has a carbed vector. I will have to find him some of this stuff.

Imo, it's clear not all gas is the same.

I have been using Sea-Foam for quite a few years now and not once have I ever had to clean the carbs.

I did pull my carbs off my XLT last year just to have a "look and see" and they were spotless, no sign of gunk, varnish, nothing, clean as a whistle.

Personally, I can see people having to clean their carbs after they use Sea-Foam for the first time as it does a great job of removing gung so that will and can clog jets etc.

Seafoam will NOT remove the ethenoyl white flaky oxidation that builds up in the jets or bowls, period. I did not post this to hear everyones storage treatment experience. Most of us who are forced to use ethenoyl enhanced fuel have to clean our carbs several times each season.

I just wanted to post my results with this new product introduced to our forum last season. do a search on "Mechanic in a Bottle" and you will find last seasons posts about this product.

Wow, who pissed in your Wheaties this morning? Most all of us appreciate the sharing of information and comparisons to other products. If you do not care to hear others opinions/experiences you are posting in the wrong forum.

This product is worth a try. Does any one know if its available in Canada?

I have been using seafoam for a number of years now and have never had any problems. The only problem I have heard was a friend used it on his boat that was stored improperly and not used for four years. He ran it through and it did what it was supposed to do by removing all the crap. Problem is it worked too well the first time and clogged up his fuel pump

ok lets make this thread 90 pages long, ill start. i have a fitch fuel catalist in my tank and never need to clean my carbs. start............now.

Thanks Blue Dave, I wondered the same thing when I read his response!

Like I mentioned in my post above his, all gas is not the same as I, and everyone I ride with, have never cleaned their carbs, especially numerous times a season do to ethanol enriched gas.

Maybe happy pants should get his gas tested to see exactly what is in it because there is no way ethanol fuel will create this problem numerous times a season, at least not the ethanol fuel we get up here in Canada.

At the end of last season, I put in the Mechanic In A Bottle in the fuel, ran it until all warmed up. Drained the fuel until around an inch in the tanks. One 2 smoke, one 4 stroke. I did not start the sleds all summer until last week. Dragged the sleds out of trailer, added 2/3 gallons of fresh gas. Charged both batteries, cleaned the plugs for the hell of it. Both sleds started right up. They were in my heated garage, so NO Choke was needed. And the best of all . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

NO CARB CLEANING.

This product is available at TSC and Dollar General for $5.99.

:-o

Why not drain the fuel all the way out..J do or I put 3/4 tank in with marine sta-bil in it

I am not saying Seafoam is better or the best. I am a believer in Mechanic in a Bottle after seeing the vid. It's just that we can't get it here in Canada and Seafoam is my only alternative.

By the way....I also have the Fitch Fuel Cat in my RX tank ;)

Wish we had that up here to try Indy......but we can get Sea Foam

Have you ever tried the Sea Foam Spray?

The liquid works well in your fuel or your oil....but it sure does make your oil dirty quickly, good to do before your going to do a oil change. Are you saying you Like M.I.A.B. better or it works faster or both?

OK, OK. Boy you guys are fast to jump on someone. I said what I did cos of a lot of post about Seafoam. I use Seafoam on my vehicles, oil (b4 oil change), gas, and suck in to the plenum and let set. It used to say right on the can that it did not help with ethenoyl, now it says it does. All I am trying to say is that M.I.A.B. worked exactly like it said it would. All of the posters who said they have never had to clean thier carbs since using Seafoam, great, I am very happy for you. However, I would like to see inside your carbs to see if you have any white flakey deposits on the sides of the bowls.

As far as someone pissing in my Post Toasties that morning, I didn't want this post to end up 10 pages long on the different storage types. That has been discussed here many, many times.

Next, when the weather warms up, I am going to try just plain old diesel fuel in my oil b4 oil changes, and I am going to suck it into the intake. I am just curious, because Seafoam smells the same.
:rocks:
