Indy said:Seafoam will NOT remove the ethenoyl white flaky oxidation that builds up in the jets or bowls, period. I did not post this to hear everyones storage treatment experience. Most of us who are forced to use ethenoyl enhanced fuel have to clean our carbs several times each season.
White flaky oxidation? I cleaned my carbs once in 8 years and 18,000 miles. Only gunk in it was varnish that partialy plugged the idle jets. I just run the sled a few times a summer till the exchangers are hot. Yes we have ethonol enhanced fuel here! Yes I store my sled in the garage and yes I use sea foam! No I do not use premium or av gas to store my sled just ethonol regular fuel!
I'm not sure what you guys south of the border have but I'm sure glad North of it we don't! Ethanol is just a form of alcohol and I used and still use isypropol in my two stroke and now a bit in my Apex because premium does not have ethonol to remove water from the gas and suspend it in it so it will burn up rather then freeze in the carbs or injectors.
To me sometimes it sounds like people are getting bad gas and blaming ethonol when in fact I think that maybe its the service stations selling bad gas and not doing anything such as installing and or maintaining filters on their pumps. I think that if I started to have to clean my carbs twice a season I would be putting filters inline on my sled that would both filter any gunk and water before it hits the carbs. I have one that I used on my bike, filters down to real small microns and won't let water pass. It has a bowl on it you can drain quite easily.
As far as Fuel injection goes water and junk destroys injectors so why no problems with them and all this white flaky stuff?
I've used the Fitch fuel cat.for years in my sleds an Harley, lawn tractor ,everything, never used anything else !Never had problems with carbs or injection system.
My motorcycle all I have ever done to it is the fitch as well and I have yet to have a problem with it. Now that being said the bike is stored in cooler enviroment where things to be evaporated or grow is much less. The sleds on the other hand are stored in my fully enclosed trailer during the swells of summer where there is more moisture and heat. It has four carbs as well. Knocking on wood!

Never, ever had a problem with sleds I have maintained with sea foam.woolyviper said:i used to sea foam the 2 strokes (heavy dose) - run em until they were hot - fog em - shut down and drain the carbs. never had to clean carbs either.
x3, I've never cleaned a carb in any sled we've owned. And we own 9 at the moment. Good gas, and store them FULL with seafoam through the fuel system. I don't fog or drain the fuel....I just don't like the idea of the carbs sitting empty all summer, or the gas tank. But GOOD GAS is key. And ethanol is the devil.
Not to take anything away from this mechanic in a bottle stuff, it sounds like good stuff

Never knocked Mechanic in a Bottle! Maybe its good stuff. But why do some people have so much trouble and others have none? Its a thing that has bugged me forever. Everyone tries the next great chemical but no one ever looks further then that. I for one never saw any white flaky stuff when I took my carbs apart!
My sled has inline filters in the tank. They only filter out the larger stuff if they are still in working order (I checked mine and they where fine) and not a pile of crap in the bottom of the tank. The filters I refer to are not anything like those.
But I'll bow out of this as you seem a little miffed that your real world test has not been taken to heart by all. I put sea foam in my four stroke fuel (none in my two stroke and it ran great so far carbs never cleaned since new in 2000) and ran it a few times in the summer stored in my garage and guess what NO CARB CLEANING
Maybe the thread should have been titled : MECHANIC IN A BOTTLE WORKED FOR ME THIS YEAR PLEASE DO NOT TALK ABOUT ANY OTHER WAY TO STORE YOUR SLED UNLESS YOU HAVE WHITE FLAKY OXIDISED STUFF IN YOUR CARBS AND HAVE TO CLEAN THEM TWICE A SEASON.
I am going to get some I seen the video and I am going to test it myself. I dont know why indy is being so touchy on this subject the product is new to most and its going to be challenged until proven it works by more than a few members. When I did have to clean mine both were green and had a glazed hardend film on all jets and pilots were plugged with no flaky white stuff either. Even though other members are talking about other products they are still talking about the MIAB in comparision.

Let me try this again . . . I am so happy with all of the people who do not have to clean thier carbs. I am glad that so many are satisfied with Sea Foam. I think Sea Foam is a great product, I use it myself. I've used Sea Foam for many years, back since it was $2.99 a bottle.
How many times have Sled Dog and myself helped fellow posters who have problems with a poor running sled, and when they finally clean thier carbs, everything is fine? At least a dozen times already this season. each.
Last season the product Mechanic In A Bottle was introduced to the forum by Rigidone;
http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php? ... ht=#984697 and here also;
http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php? ... sc&start=0
It was discussed at length. He did his own test (a damn good test by the way, thanks Rigidone). He posted the following video link to this test. It can be watched here:
http://www.veoh.com/watch/v27896358P59eQY2h
This is why I tried it in everything I own. It worked great in all of my yard and farm equipment. So I tried it in the sleds at the end of last season. I posted my results in this thread.
Why did I get "muffed"? This thread is now 3 pages and will likley go to 4 or more. The majority of the posts are from people who have NO use for this product, they have never had to clean thier carbs. This is like a Phazer rider commenting on a Venture. So someone who comes across this thread is going to bored to death with all of the posts from guys who don't need this product. However MANY, ok, I'll say it, one hell of a lot of fu(*ing people DO have problems with the ethanol and fouled carbs.
This thread was intended for them.
Now if you would like to have me to mail you a bottle or 2, they are $7.00 US each. Plus the box or envelope and postage. I am not charging for my time, and will not do more than 5 total mailings. 2 spots are already filled, Sled Dog and BountyHunter. I will accept payment by paypal only. You Cannuks know if this is legal or not, if it is not legal, I will not send. PM me.
Please take the time and watch the video.
