I'd be interested to see where that little hook is supposed to go on a Cat. My guess is that the winged shields need an extra attach point.

It goes in the the body work next to pod.

Do our Vipers have th'clip'so we can give the shield the support it needs?

It does. There is also a hole for pushpin on them. I tried setting one on a viper to see how it's done but it was in wrapper and stock viper windshield was still on there so I could not tell how it fits. I do know one guy who did it and he said it was easy but I have not seen how he did it.
I've seen the cat model with the plastic expanding push pin dart. My "guess" is that we'd just need to drill a small hole for this pin.
I had a conversation with a forum member here who ran the Cat ultra high shield and had it for sale. He described the install as "trimming 2 tabs" and he did his like someone else here had already done.
Hope to have my sled home soon (fingers crossed) so I can get to work on this stuff and document the process.

Correction. The hook goes under the body work next to headlight pod. Even on a cat 7000 you have to drill a hole in side of pod for crosstour windy. I suspect guys just dont use the hook since it sure doesnt look like it would work on Viper since our panel there is real different.

Cool! Then we can finally figure this out. I wish I could just do a swap but I can't be taking Windys off new sleds. I bet you are excited. Congratulations!

Talked to guy who did it.
He said he cut the tab off, mounted winshield, drilled one hole in winshield near hook for the stock Viper pushpin and hole and drilled another in side pod for the hole in the cat windshield. When I see the sled I will take pics unless on of you beat me to it.

I am pumped. Started the old XTC 700 triple and road her across the lawn to load in back of truck. Kinda sad to get rid of a 2 stroke sled with >14000 miles two winters finished with Brocken speedo so not sure how much more. She has been good to me and owes me nothing -gonna trade her in.

Saw cross tour windy /mirrors on 14 viper. Looked great there was one 'custom' hole drilled into black shroud vertical edge looked to be simple. He used a Phillips screw to a cage nut. Did not see the how the hook worked so can't comment on it.
We tried the AC mirrors on the stock Yamaha mid windshield but the wings are far to flexible to mount mirrors

Does anyone have the Medium Sport Windshield installed on their Viper? I'm deciding between the Low Sport and Medium Sport. The total height difference is only 1 3/4 inches. Pictures appreciated!

Funny.… Just went through all the same stuff with Kevin last Thursday as I ordered a med sport with red and white side graphics to match the heritage red 16 ltx le (matches the sled nice) The unit had the push button fastener for the flare and fit perfect. Understand they will not be making this style anymore....
