Fellow michigan riders. I have a nytro and I placed the registration stickers on the tunnel. Has anyone done the same and have has trouble with the police or dnr? Thanks

They must go on the plastic side panels. Use a little rubbing alcohol to clean it up, let dry and stick it on. I also used a blow dryer to warm up the plastic.

I put mine on the sides of my windshield. Have never been stopped.

Me too. Got it as close to the headlight as possible. I've had no issues.

The Michigan trail sticker is easy enough, on the windshield or the air box cover.

But I was never able to get the state registration stickers to stick to the plastic on my last Yamaha, I'm not sure where I will try for my new one.

I have a while to think about it though, in Illinois it takes 8 months to get your state sticker. Today is December 2nd, and Illinois is just starting to process stickers from June 1st. (Although they sure do cash your check right away...:-)

I have a PA registration on my RX and ride in Michigan, I put it on the gas tank cover and my knees cover up half of it, and even when they do see the sticker they like to stop me and question me since it doesn't have a expiration date on the sticker itself. As long as they aren't ignorant I don't mind. I did however have one tell me that it was illegal and I needed to have it registration from Michigan. Once I informed him that it just had to be registered in a state he left me alone and let me go. I have had others who were very cool about it and said if I had a sled that looked that good I would hide the stickers too.

One of the dealers I used to purchase from (now out of business) used to have aluminum plates made up the correct size for the registration numbers. He would apply the stickers on the aluminum and then pop rivet the plate to a flat area on the plastic down as low as possible. I've had 3 sleds this way and no issues.

On the newer sleds, I've applied to the lower plastic after cleaning, this hasn't worked out so well.

The windshield works, but I hate the look. I like to keep them as low as possible.

I just used high tack spray adhesive that loc-tite makes. I out it on the stickers and the sled. Hopefully they will stay

Thanks everyone

Have you considered using Sled Solutions registration plates? I have used them on two sleds and they work great. The registration stickers stick to them yet are pretty easy to remove when you need to add the new stickers. The picture is one of these plates on my Phazer. The plate is mounted on compound curve section of the lower side panel. Just make sure the plate and body panels are a little warm when mounting to curved section.

I have never had a problem affixing the stickers to the lower plastic. As long as you clean the area and use a blow dryer, you should not have a problem. I have done this since my 97 SX and a dozen sleds since. If you put the sticker on the tunnel and get stopped by the DNR in the Cadillac/Irons area, you will be cited.

I had them on my tunnel, they did not like it. Kept stoping me and giving me grief. After moving them forward on lower panels they don't stop me anymore. If you use alcohol on plastic they stick just fine.

Had them on the tunnel for a bit, got stopped in newberry for a $195.00 ticket. I was at a 4 way stop and the copy fixed was accross the trail. He looked up, turned on the lights and that was it my buddy and I $195 each

It sure seems like if they are visible what does it matter. However they are out there to generate revenue. Directions and law say "forward half of snowmobile visible on each side" so if not there, get ready to pay his salary and gas that day.
