Hi guys,
I'm a new member to the 4 stroke forum, but have had two 2003 RX1s over the years, as well as SRXs and currently ride a 2002 Viper I found with 1k miles last year.
Here's the scoop:
2003 RX1 with supercharger.
6500 miles
No other after market parts, looks bone stock.
Not the original track with a couple lugs missing and no studs
$4500
It is in pretty good shape for the year, not perfect but very nice condition.
It is at a dealer. He told me the guy who owned it blew it on the lake and he attributed it to dirty carbs. Guy had the choice if fixing it or trading it as is for a good price so he traded it. They rebuilt it and here it is. He didn't say how long it had the supercharger, but it's a fresh rebuild now.
What do you guys think? I'm always Leery of buying second hand from past experiences. Most of my recent sleds were bought with no more than 2k miles so not much to worry about.
I'm just tempted by getting the whole sled with supercharger for less than just the supercharger kit would cost.

I would be concerned... over boosted with crap gas would be the reason the thing blew... maybe the carb. I would find out the boost its set at and also fine out if the motor had a head shimmed installed and for peace of mind have the compression check and have a leak down test done.

Thank Mr. Sled. It is at a dealer, so they should perform those tests. It's strange to me that someone that would put a supercharger would leave the rest bone stock. 90% of the time you can spot these over modded sleds from a mile away with all the unnecessary extras added on.

If they want to sell the sled they should perform the operations to make you understand the motor is solid.

My brother blew one cylinder on his RX1 stock motor and when he looked it over he found the carb for that same cylinder caused a lean condition so yeah it can happen. Found him a used motor and he has been banging it around for some time now.
