Ive been looking to upgrade to an Apex for quite awhile and I might have found the right opportunity. I've owned SRXs, SX Vipers, and RX1s. Currently have an SX Viper and SRX. I recently tested a supercharged RX1 (fun!). I've owned 3 stock RX1s over the years.

A dealer that closed in 2009 is selling his personal collection:

1.) 2006 Apex GT. MPI supercharger, gauges, forged Pistons, 1.25 track, upgraded drive cogs, studs. Runs on race gas at 240hp he says. 450 miles!!!! $6000

2.) 2006 Attak. Red. MPI supercharger, lcd gauge for supercharger, ohlins front shocks, studs. Runs on pump gas 220hp. 250 miles!!!!! $6000

3.) 2008 Apex anniversary. Lots of goodies but not boosted. NOS kit on it. 1200 miles. $7500

He said these were "show" sleds to sell the other ones in the showroom and to sell superchargers, etc. He said they spent a lot of time tuning them just right.

I ride mostly trail and have been looking for a boosted sled, but don't want to have to worry about much maintenance (shyed away from RX1 due to carb cleaning)

Thoughts on which one and the price?

Then I would go to the 2008 n/a Apex. Remove and sell the NOS kit but $7500 seems steep for a 2008.
The pump gas Attak would be my second choice. Attak is a great trail machine.
Without knowing and seeing the sleds $6000 for a s/c'd sled sounds like a better deal than the n/a Apex.

Me I'd buy the attack. Hauling race gas around would be a pain.

I have been looking at these sleds on Craigslist too. If I had the extra $$$ I would be all over that attack! I've made lots of upgrades to my RX1 but it's still no Apex plus I'm getting sick of having the slowest sled in my group.

Thanks guys. I'd have to ask the guys mechanic on the Apex. I like it, but race gas and toying with lowering the boost/clutching to go without it might be a pain. He did say I could try them out, but I wouldn't be a tire kicker....I'd be buying one if I bothered to try them.

Yama_rider, why do you think no one has picked these up yet? I ride yamaha blue, so the red would be an adjustment (might need a new suit). I'd also be new to the extended track. I'd really need to relocate the prologger as well.

I need to see what the 2016s are first, but it's a 200 mile sled for the price of the supercharger alone....seems crazy but they are 10 years old.

They have been on Craigslist for a long time. A lot of guys want a boosted sled but nobody wants to buy a used one.....guess people are afraid of how it was installed or may be a ticking time bomb. However, it looks like these machines were built right by a reputable shop. I'm not too fond of the burgundy color either but that can easily be swapped out for different body work.

X2 on what everyone else was saying, you are asking for a boosted sled with minimal worries. Supercharger on pump gas is about as safe as it gets. I am with the others on the 08 and yank out the NOS. But that is a $5000 sled tops.

Trouble is all these extras don't add much value to the sled even though the investment was pretty substantial. As far as a boosted sled with under 1000 miles on it, the question will be in the back of your head, how reliable is it. You would think a dealer sled would be dead reliable. You just don't know.

It's almost like looking at a two stroke ad with "0 miles on fresh top end rebuild" I would rather see 2000 miles on last years top end rebuild. I wanna know the work was done right.

If those SC kits were installed at mile 0 and all the miles were put on with the options installed, then it should be reliable. Forget the race gas sled. Would be fun, but what an expensive pain in the butt to deal with.

Good luck!

Thanks guys. Looking to see what 2016 has before I Pull the trigger.

A local 15 Viper LTX LE looks tasty in blue and orange, but the issues and low power keep me at arms length.....for now. I'd have to turbo it and that costs some $$$.
