Mirrors for the Apex

Do the AC mirrors come in both a left and right hand? It appears by the picture that it mounts on one side. Maybe you can twist the bracket 180 degrees and it will work for both left and right.

yes you can twist the mirror 180. I ordered one and bought the other. I want to see which one fits better.

Hondafixer. Keep us up on those mirrors. Looks to me like they could be susceptible to damage from hitting things or on rollover.

Looked at the AC mirrors, both style mini's, that mount to the inside ot the windshield. They do swivel so can be mounted on either side. Biggest problem I saw was finding a contour on the windshield that the mounting holes will fit without stressing the shield by trying to flatten it out to match the contour of the mounting side of the mirrors. Each shield is going to be different according to its curvatures. Was testing on a 2009 A.C. that had external mounted shield mirrors. Those will definitely cause a windshield problem on a rollover or striking an object...Just my opinions.

I was thinking of sanding down the mounting tabs on the mirrors to conform with the windshield better. Between the inside and the outside AC mirror I like the outside one. I think I can make it fit and be in close. They don't fold so hitting something will be the pit's..but they'll be a nice mirrror.

CaptCaper,

Let us know how they work. I would love to have both the left and right hand side. Sanding down the middle of the tabs sounds like a good idea. I just noticed that you are thinking about the outside mirrors. I guess I need to go to a AC dealer and check the options out.

I was going to sand the mounting arms on the mirrors to conform to the windshield then fill the ams with epoxy with a bolt in it so I could bolt them to the windshield. When I sand the arms I'll loose the ability to install the wel nuts supplied. If you see them you'll know what I mean.

i like the handle bar mirrors for sure, but the only thing is that w/ these or any mirror like this, the cover wouldnt fit on w/out taking the mirror off everytime i would guess.

Have used these mirrors for two years now with no problem. Do not own a cover so that is not an issue. I think any mirror is going to be toast in a rollover. The handlebar end mirror is only $14 so if I break one or two it is no big deal. So far this one has survived quite well

I picked up a set of the new Yamaha mirrors last week, so far they seem like a good solution - certainly better than the body mounted mirrors from previous years.

They are a little narrow, so there's a fair bit of my shoulders in the mirror view (or maybe I'm a bit wide!) - but I prefer that to having them too wide and catching on stuff.

Here's a couple of pic's of them installed.

I should mention my windshield is the MEDIUM one in the Accessories Catalog not the stock one from Yami in 07. It's 2in. taller I think. My local AC dealer in Lincoln NH was kind enough too let me borrow these AC mirrors.
On the AC inside mirrors there are 2 styles. The one that I find fits best is the one with the longer mounting base. They are small kind of a fish eye type but will work. I think the trailing end of the base should be sanded just a little to give it a curve to lay against the windshield better.
The larger outside one is nice that it is real glass and much larger but my windshield is too flimsy to mount it. AC's Windshield is much stiffer on the sides.

I have the old Yami Mirrors that I tried (and didn't like at all maybe because my Vmax's were so good.) for my Attak and took off which have a large mirror and could be extended out farther on sides so you can see right behind you. If the base was built better. I'm in the process of building a better base made from solid fiberglass (tiger hair). If I get frustrated and throw them out into the woods I'll install the AC inside mirrors. The angle these need to be functional has to be just right as the adjustment angles don't have much in any direction.
I still can't seem to want to try the handlebar mirrors. Probably because of the cover I have.

Can anyone tell me how I can get ahold of a set of these mirrors, part #SMA-MIROR-00-KT. Supposedly they are only avalible in Canada.
I sent a couple emails to dealers in Canada but don't seem to be getting any replies back. If anyone can help me get hooked up with a Canadian dealer, I would like to get a set. Thanks in advance for your help.
John

I got the mirrors from a Yamaha dealer in Harrow Canada. I had them ship me the mounts. The mirrors ARE available in the US, but them have them also. I included a couple of close up pictures of the mounts. No problem clearing the windshild.

Mirrors

I just bought Yamaha's solution to handlebar mounted mirrors and they work okay, not out far enough. Back in 2006 I went to a Ski-Doo dealer and bought their handlebar mounter mirror for their 05-2 up sleds, 15 bucks and a handlebar clamp/mount for an ATV and I still have the best mirror setup since the 05RX-1 Windshield mounted mirrors. This was mounted on my 06 APEX and is still there to this day, as a matter of fact I have some more ordered for my sons 09 Vector. I hope this helps!

as all the others i'm seeing no body has the handguards as well as the mirror as im guessing there iasnt enough rook unless you get the nytro set up that incor. both. nice pics though. guess im going to find a set of the side mount mirros again and just deal w/ them.

I have the Handgard and mirror set up and am pleasantly surprised by how they look and work, Sorry do not know how to get a picture on here. Tried and my wife's camera has to much 'megapixels'.

Anyway other than cost of both hand gaurds and mirrors I like this set up. Definately could not put on cover and if rolled they would be toast. ? Why are we rolling trail sleds guys? LOL
