Just got back from Quebec. I'm now at about 3,000 miles on my 06 RTX and it just keeps getting better. I rode with 7 guys who all had various 800 sleds from the other manufacturers. My Apex was easily the fastest and quickest sled there at any time. Dead stop, roll-on, top end, it didn't matter and frankly I was surprised at how bad I beat them. This was my first trip with the 23 top gear installed. That combined with my Proline/Dalton setup (lower engagement Dalton red primary spring) absolutely rips. I was also surprised that I didn't detect any real change in fuel economy. There was a stock 04 Warrior riding with us and we were always within a few tenths of a litre when refueling. I was really expecting him to get better mileage than me but after 450+ miles we were always the same.

Handling with the simmons skis is awesome and the fox floats and monoshock eat the bumps and make for a plush ride. Every morning the sled fired right up with the turn of the key, including one morning when it had been down to -30 F overnight. I just sat there idling as other guys were ripping their arms out of there sockets trying to turn over big twins and triples. Then at the end of the day I would just walk inside while everyone else was scrambling around for their injector oil. Every time I go on a trip like this I'm struck by how superior the Apex is for MY TYPE OF RIDING. It's hard to beat for the wide fast trails of Quebec and Maine. I know I sound like a cheerleader but I just love this sled. The only thing the other sleds did better was heat their hands (LOL) but I was OK.

A few other random observations:

1) I've yet to have any fouling or starting problems running the CR10EK plugs.
2) Still running the original sliders at nearly 3,000 miles and have plenty of life left in them (run the track loose guys!)
3) Yamaha spoked accessory wheels are still going strong.

Thanks to Tom and all the regular contributors for the best site on the net.

i like positive posts like that, glad you love your sled,im the same way,i love my four stroke.they say that a two stroke will wear you out less at the end of the day but those without starters will be sweatin before even sitting on the sled on those cold mornings just from the cranking, that wears a guy out, seen that last week,i tought it was funny

Sounds great!! We are finally getting some snow in Minnesota and if it doesn't all melt by next weekend I will finally get to try my new-to-me Apex ER in some real world conditions. Hoping to have similar results!
