Over the weekend, I had time to finally test my mods in a step by step add on to see what each acheived in top end performance.
I used a snow covered plowed forest road, 1/3 mile run for my test area.
all speeds verified with gps
first run all- stock 108mph
second run- air box mod 109mph
third run-air box mod with ram air 110mph
Switched exhaust to sno stuff rumble pack
first run with exhaust mod- 110mph
second run with ram air box and exhaust mod- 113mph
third run with ram air, exhaust mod, pc111 and ignition mod 118mph
With $1300.00 spent so far, you can see how much I have gained or not. Each mod had some effect on my top end speeds. All runs were a easy start to about 40 mph then to full throttle as I have only 96 studs.
I did not lower my sled or suspension or remove my shaper bars. if I had done this, I may have seen another 2-3mph. But this was done with a trail sled setup, stock clutch, and shimmed secondary with new 8dn belt.
I also have not installed my 23t gear as I did not have the time.
I hope this test, answers alot of questions as to what do you gain with these mods? We all ask, now I hope I have given some answers to this.
Also, I weigh 280 pounds!

You need to finish it with an Ulmer or Proline kit and put that 23 gear in. The stock helix alone is holding you up. Also, you need 144 studs. It won't affect your top end with the addition of 48 more. Allen told me on Asphault in the 1/4 mile with those mods, clutching and gearing, you can reach 123-124mph. On smooth ice, I believe it is somewhat attainable and maybe within 2000ft.

is the exhaust MOD and rumble pack same thing?...
how well does the fuel programmer and ignition module work without any exhaust changes?
is the fuel economy effected much with pc3 and ignition module?
Problem with exhausts round these parts is they ticket you for any changes.....
thanks

Below is a post by someone who swears that you can't get extra performance from aftermarket equipment unless you spend thousands.
I have seen gains with my Excell, airbox mod, powercommanderIII and ignition module and agree it is money well spent and definitely improves performance quite a bit.
KnappAttack said:I just tested a whole bunch of stuff that is supposed to add any where from 5-10 HP over this last weekend. I'll tell you what, you can save your money on all of it. The only thing that makes power on these sleds is a turbo or supercharger. Everything else is like pissing in the wind.

PCIII and ignition module are about $700. I couldn’t tell you how much HP you gain but I can tell you it improved the performance of my sled. It’s recommended that you run premium fuel as well.

How is the rumble pack for noise, is it loud or does it have a nice deep mellow sound. If you could post a sound clip so we could have a listen. Thanx dave

What rpms were you running on the top. Did you run the same with the pcIII and ignition module? Did you keep track of what the a/f ratio was doing on each change?

Dan, Not much change in Fuel economy, but it makes a very good performance enhancement. I have an Excell, but have not installed it yet. It hauls #*$&@ even with the stock exhaust.

wow, that is awesome, so with the air-box mod, exhaust and the programmers, you adding 10 m.p.h., is it alot loud with the air box mod and exhaust?

mods
the pc111 from Allen was about $650.00 with ignition module. It advance times to 6 degree's in the midange. You really can feel it. Hang on! Also the rumble pack is the sno stuff silencer. saving 9 pounds and a 3hp gain? You can feel the difference in the mid for sure. I cut mine open and made my own silencing for No tickets. I bought the packing from Kirk Co.
With the new belt, I'm pulling 10,500 all the way up. I can't tell you about a 1 mile run as I did not do that.
Also the air box mod was my own, gutted the bottom out, 6 bulleyes in the sides and made my own ram air lid. Also bought a new quiet lid. LOL it's a little loud with the ram air.
Fuel economy is ok. If you run alot of wide open throttle it drinks gas. LOL 70 miles with 3 bars left on gauge. But run it easy, same same mileage as before? or close. I got 14mpg on one trip but just cruised along with very little wide open throttle.
I also shimmed my helix for better shift out with 3 lock washers. I can't tell you if it did anything.
Next week I will install the 23t gear and clutch kit soon. I have not made up my mind on what to do yet as I have not finished.
But I think the stock clutching is ok. But I have not ridden a clutched apex either. lol
The ignition module seemed to be ok, without anything else, but adding the ram air, and exhaust woke it up for sure.
I'm adding the 48 studs with the 23t gear as I get zero hook up until 40 or so now. LOL such a problem to have.
I did get a chance to run against a 830cc pro x. 0-80 dead even and then I check out.
Like I said, I can get more top for sure. When I seen the 118mph, I was so damn happy that I didn't need to do any more. The results were in and I was extremely happy. But there was more there, it was still pulling. Also I made my own fuel map. I took 87gtnos map that he was so kind to send me and then incorporated Allens top end. It works well. Also Jonathan I will sned you the map, as I have not had time and now at a convention this week.
My air/fuel ratio's run between 12.3-12.6 pulling 12.4 from 9500 to 10,500. I have not tried to add more or less fuel from my program as it is endless? LOL Hope this helps and answers some questions.

RTX DUDE,
nice info here...thanks....I wish you were local,id like to run it against mine to see how she works....i have been thinking about the pc3/ign module now for a few weeks and learning more about it everyday.....
does allens setup/map seem pretty good???...or have you tweaked it like you mentioned with what Jonathan is running?....
I do think the modded exhaust probably helps alot, with the map and ramair changes....this is exactly what i did to my VRod(exhaust/K&N/fuel controller)..and typically when we add air and fuel and change timing,we need to let her breathe better too with exhaust mods....
I agree,id have to MOD the stock exhaust do to the tickets being given out here for ANY exhaust changes(loud or not).....if it doesnt look stock you get a ticket....so Id rather be quiet and stock in appearence.
Id love to see some radar speeds over 120-122....then id be a true believer....im sure in the middle she must PULL LIKE A MUTHA!....
thanks for awesome info here.

You may be right, but I added the Fix Ram Air lid, plus PCIII and ignition all at once and I noticed a big gain. Your speeds indicate a 5mph increase with the addition of the PCIII and Ignition. That has to count for something, it has to be better than OK...
