Very interested in LTX, STX, or probably an XTX Viper but I know I will be irritated if am last off the lake every time after having had Apex power. This may be a stupid question but how does the full EVO 160 hp (prob a few more ponies than my Attak) Viper or 190hp (way more HP) MPI turbo Vipers do against Apes in long pulls?

You are going to have to wait for snow on the EVO. It just came out 2 weeks ago. Turbo with gearing should beat a Apex pretty easily or at least feels like it should. Any Turbo guys race a Apex for a mile or further?Very interested in LTX, STX, or probably an XTX Viper but I know I will be irritated if am last off the lake every time after having had Apex power. A mile or further..no, we have a first gen 09 apex short track and with the turbo on mine it's not a race at all. We've seen 114 on the apex dreamometer a couple times (actual speed maybe 105?) with my regeared turbo viper at 180-190hp I've seen 116 on a speedo that proven to be accurate and the viper would leave the apex anywhere it wanted. If you can get a viper in the 150hp range with bolt ons you shouldn't have to be too worried, more than likely you'd want to change gearing to keep clutching efficient with the higher hp, just remember the viper is way lighter than the apex and weight hogs up a lot of power when you're trying to go fast.

I run 6# OSP viper turbo and buddy has apex. His top speed is 108 mph. I can tease him whenever I want. Pull up hit throttle lift skies and drive away. No comparison.Very interested in LTX, STX, or probably an XTX Viper but I know I will be irritated if am last off the lake every time after having had Apex power. I was at the dealer today and got the same info. Most the the Apexes in our group will hit 115 including my Attak but they have built a few low boost Vipwrs and said will outrun the Apex if geared right. Spring order red and white LE on the floor with MPI installed was very sweet.

Speedometer says 115, actual speed is in the 105 range I bet, that's how our apex's used to be. More times than not whenever we did radaring on my viper the speedo actually would read 1 mph slower than radar speed at speeds over 100. Ex: 3 runs in a row with stock gearing the speedometer read 108, radar read 109...either way the viper speedo is dead on, first yammi 4-stroke I've had that didn't read 7-10 mph fast.

Nope. I always ride with a GPS. I've been as fast as 118 on my short GT. Speedo cracked 130. My buddies 2013 SE definitely does a real 115 too.

We did radar runs with the apexs last year. My buddy's would see 113 I think. I could only get 108.
I'm hoping the viper will beat them both

I believe that. Seen it myself with SRX few times. Took longer for Apex to get up there but they will. So a stock Viper is definitely not going to make you happy Action Jack. Turbo would for sure or maybe the Evo flash. Then the question becomes if you go Turbo is it safe to hold at those speeds for a mile or more? That is only reason I have not done Turbo. There are some of us who do hold them tight for much longer than a mile. Many say it nuts but is many times you can do it with one hand especially on the Viper which handles and rides so good. Man just the thought of those long river or trail runs is really getting me in mood!Nope. I always ride with a GPS. I've been as fast as 118 on my short GT. Speedo cracked 130. Have an MCX low boost kit and have held it wide open for a mile run after run with a best of 126 on my GPS but lots of 125's but that was last year and I was just sorting out my clutching and gearing, should run 130 this year but time will tell. In 1320' at a sanctioned radar run it went 117 best with me on it and I'm 250 suited. here is a video of it

I'm sure I'm getting a Viper now. It's just a question of when which and if I start with a Turbo. I ride a lake regularly in western Md where we often run 10 minutes throttle to the bar but mostly I tour in Quebec. So I'm not running 100+ that often but when I can I want to be able to. I spent a while with an LTX-DX and really like the position. But I'm really drawn to the STX-DX in part because I will have 2 up for when I have the family along.

Change gearing so you have 120+ mph gearing and just play with the throttle, if an apex can do 115 mph it'll probably take it close to a mile to get there, a boosted viper can do that in a 1/4 mile easily

Yep I was at F & S. Tim and Andy were going over the sled with me between getting ready for the York show. We have 8 Apexes in our group and are all F & S customers.

Once the lake freezes I'll be up there and you can see mine run. I've got the MPI trail kit, XTX gearing and Allen Ulmer has my clutches right now working his magic on them. With stock gearing and clutch issues last year it still ran 112 and didn't take long to get there. You can't miss me in Deep Creek. I've got an all black LTX with the decals removed.
