Just took my skid out for the first time send the shock to Pioneer for a rebuild and revalve found an issue with my RA Adjuster cable. I take it that the hex shape collar was crimped on the cable? I was careful with RA Adjuster and cable when removing the skid so I dont know how long it has been like this. I am hoping I can recrimp this collar on and get by.
Has anyone had this issue and recrimped the collar on? If not, can you just buy the cable?
Thanks, G.B.

I would not crimp but probably try epoxy or JB Weld on it.

If it were me, I'd get a new cable... about $30. The part number for this has been superceded, so I suspect they improved the design. I've had one break on me in 4,000 miles but it's a known issue with folks here.
The other option is if you don't intend to adjust your mono shock and are happy with one/current setting, you could just leave the cable off
. But again, I would just replace cable and be done with it.

They are pieces of crap. The new cable has a tougher nylon type tubing instead of the softer rubber tubing, but still weak. I don't know why they don't sell some type of braided steel cable or like a bicycle style black housed cables. Pretty much put a new one on every year due to breakage. You may also want to check your track clips to see if they stick up past the rubber knobs on the track. They wear out the cable protector on the inside of the RA control and could damage the cable also. I took a grinder and ground down all the track clips an the RA side that stuck above the track knobs, no more wear on the cable protector(slider).

just leave it off. How often do you actually adjust this anyway? I've ran mine without for a couple of season.

Thanks to all for your info and comments. I think I will fix it right and just buy a new cable. I do use the adjuster a lot here in Michigan with all of the sled traffic and ever changing trail conditions.
Wildmann, I just looked the cable up on Port Yamaha's site and I am not seeing it for $18. Am I looking at the right part number for just the cable?

That's the new price for the new part. Old price was around $16-$18 for the flimsy black adjuster cable. It's a good thing you're not in Canada, you would pay over $60 for that part at the dealer. When I visit the States I stock up on parts and oil.

Thanks vogelm1 and thrasher!
I just talked with Bruce at Pioneer about my shocks I am sending him and he stocks this cable for $35. I am going to buy the cable from him along with his Monoshock bushing kit that he will ship to me with my shocks to save me on shipping.
I have another question on this cable. Is there a way to index the adjuster with the shock? I meant to ask Bruce about this but I didnt think about it when I had him on the phone. If I was just replacing the cable and did not touch the adjuster or shock it would be no big deal. However, I think I turned the adjuster to see if the cable was frozen after I found the crimped end fitting was off. And know when Bruce sends my shock back how do I match up or index the adjuster to it?
Thanks again, G.B.

He'll send you instructions on how to do it. From memory, ya right, turn dial to full firm. Then , using a small flat blade screw driver, turn the adjuster on the shock clockwise, untio it lightlly seats. This is the square drive in the shock body. Reinstall the cable and your ready to rock

The shock gets turned the opposite direction as the knob on the tunnel, ie. turn the tunnel knob full hard (counter-clockwise) and the shock full clockwise.

I took everything to a speedo repair shop and they made a new one with the super flex speedo housing. More durable. $15.00
