I have 6,000 miles on my '06 Attak and after pulling out the skid, most of the idler bearings are junk. That's the by-product of running trails in the U.P. that were mostly minimal snow to all out junk last winter. Don't get me wrong, I would run it all over again!

Anyway, the question is, I know that when Yamaha initially had supplier issues with idlers, a lot of you found alternates to purchase and install in the skid. I really don't want to pay Yamaha part prices here (as in OUCH!!) and was wondering where to look for quality replacements. :rocks:

I went with Kimpex wheels, which worked very well. Basically, after one season of riding on them, I've only had to grease the bearings.

You can get them through Dennis Kirk

If you want Yami parts go on Port Yamaha's site. They give an online discount and you get out of paying for sales tax.
If i need parts and can wait I order from Port :)

You can replace them with some cheaper (but better) wheels that richmotorsports.com offers..

You can also get slydog bogie wheels from ULMERRACING.COM (thats where i orderd from)

Both guys are great..

Yamaha idlers wheels are overpriced pieces of _______.
If your bearings fail, you have to buy a new wheel/bearing combo.
If your wheels fail, you have to buy a new wheel/bearing combo.

Seems logical to buy just a new bearing for $3.00 when it fails, than to buy a new wheel/bearing for $30.

Just do a search here and you'll see how many members have experienced problems with the wheels on the 4 strokes.

Stop giving Yamaha your hard earned money for these garbage wheels.

Then and only then will Yamaha improve the quality of them.

Thanks to everyone for their usual quick and informative replies! I just placed my order with Rich Motor Sports. Being slightly oversized (to reduce slide wear) was the deciding factor! ;)!

All 6 wheels on my 07 Attack were junk after last winter's 1500 miles of riding. Outside 4 of them were warped and all the bearings were rough. I had my dealer warranty them and got free replacements. I'm sure the new ones won't last either, but as long as they replace them for free I can stall off buying others. When I do have to buy them, I will probably go with Richies.

I do have to say that I suffered none of the delamination issues with my wheels and have NEVER previously had an issue with Yamaha issued idlers.

Now, with that being said, I do agree with Grimm in that I wish the bearing (only) were a replacement item...or made a maintenance item by simply repacking them (yes, I have read the threads about inserting a needle into the bearings to grease them).

I still attribute my bearing issues to the absolute crud I subjected my sled to last year. After one trip, my skid was ORANGE and it wasn't from running through the Fanta factory!

After 2000 miles I had NO problems w/ delaminating wheels on my 06 Attak. A few of them were bent ( :) ).. Not sure how I did that but I would think it had something to do w/ jumping ( and weighing 250lbs )....
Anyway I wanted the Yami acces Spoked wheels. The bearings can be replaced in them :) :)THEY ARE BLUE:)
