Two questions.
1. What is the easiest way to remove the skid. It has the RA adjuster. I heard if you remove the bottom limiter strap it comes out easier but i would think that if you collapsed the skid and held it together somehow it would come out easier????
2. Can the sliders be changed on the mono skid without removing the skid? I looked and it would seem that the trtack windows are smaller than the sliders. Every other machine I owned I could pull them out the track windows.
I want to pull the skid out and check all the bushings and grease it well this spring but I would also like to know if you can change sliders without taking out the skid.

Also, put the RA adjustment either all the way hard or soft, before you disconnect the RA cable.

When you put the front of the skid back in the sled, you have to go around tunnel rivets etc.

It won't slide straight up and in, but goes in very easy when you direct it around the rivets and support plates.

Do you have to remove the Ra cable? I would think that if you removed the 3 screws the entire adjuster would fall back into the skid and all you would have to do is be carefull not to get it jammed and pull it apart

I think its a lot easier to remove the cable. Just pull the rubber cover back and unscrew the cable. Either way works I guess.

Question: For mono skid removal is the reason the limiter strap is disconnected to make removal and replacement of the front and rear suspension bolts easier ? I've seen this mentioned several times, but no one said why.

When you disconnect the limiter strap, it lets you collapse the suspension without compressing the shock spring. That takes the pressure off the front and rear bolts.

THANKS: Thought it would be something like that. I am going to pull both skids and-
Clean & JB weld all grease fittings [ they all leak].
Grease all idler bearings
Clean and grease speed-O drive bearing
Get mono shock service [ as soon as i find someone that does them in our area].
Install new slides and anything else that comes to mind.
I want these sleds to perform with O down time next year [ as it is important because i jumped ship from Poo this year, after 30 years] and want to keep Yamaha's and my rep. in tact. All in fun I know , but have a half a dozen or more people that follow me in what I buy.
Great sleds to date with zero problems.

It takes about 15 minutes to fully R&R the 06 Attak.

..... Lift the rear end off the ground & Loosen the rear axail assembly & Loosen off the track, don't be afraid too loosen it right off.

.....Remove the three allan screws from the adjuster and just let it fall into the skid.

.....Remove the two front bolts & two rear upper bolts, and Out she comes.

.....To re install, pull the bolt on the weight transfer rod, slide skid into the track.

.....Place the front bolts back into the skid & Lower or raise the rear end slightly to get the rear two bolts back in.

.....Put the Weight transfer bolt back in & re install the allan screws.

.....Re tighten the track, double check for alignment and deflection and your done............HAPPY TRAILS COWBOYS ;)!

.....BTW; use a air impact or electric impact to bust the bolts loose on one side, retighten them and bust the other side loose. Then they ALL COME OUT REAL EASY...........Just a little tip for you guys.

.....Also the APEX GT's are a little different as you have to undo their clip by the Rad for the power cable and push the cable through a rubber gromet...........Piece of cake. Done quite a few of these now. Next time I pull mine which will be in a few weeks, I'll post step by step pic's of the whole thing out & back in. ;)!

2. Yes you can change the sliders with the skid in. To get the sliders out the back you have to twist them slightly and then force them thru the holes.

If you got a 2005 mono skid I would recommed that you put grease zerks on all axels in the skid to reduce wear on the plastic bushings. I have done it and the bushings are holding up.
